Does anyone know how much carbonate is contained in most lye water?
Chinese lye water can vary from 25-42%

Edit: that bottle looks like Mee Chun brand lye water, and I can’t find a concentration listed for it.
Does the label give any nutritional value for potassium?
You might be able to calculate the amount of carbonate from that…

No, unfortunately not! Mee Chun is the exact brand! Does it come in two different strengths? I think it was written on the bottle once. Unfortunately, a customs sticker was stuck on it. And I can't get it off!

Protein 0.7g per 100 milliliters Salt 0.24g per 100 milliliters 14g Carbohydrates per 100 milliliters I found it on the internet. At least that's exactly what the bottle looks like!

Yes, they do make 2 different strengths.
(You can try and shine a bright flashlight through the bottle and see if you can read which one you have through the customs label.)
This brand uses potassium carbonate. Without the potassium levels listed, we can’t figure out the carbonate levels.
If it was me, I’d make a small test batch:
assuming 42% strength, and see how it works.

More risky would be to make 2 mini batches, one assuming 25%, and one assuming 42%, keeping in mind, that without knowing exactly what you have, the weak batch might not do much, and the strong batch may chemically burn your mouth.

I’ve found food grade carbonate on Amazon.de, so that’s what I use.

Unfortunately there was nothing under the customs sticker either! However, I found an article number and through that the product on the meechun website. I simply wrote to meeshun by email and asked. Let's see if they answer! Really stupid that it doesn't say that on the bottle!

I found an indication on the bottle that I don't know what it means! Or I'm just guessing what it means! It says (1 PT 1 OZ)! Does that mean 1 part potassium carbonate and one part water? I'll take a photo

I knew oz! But I didn't know pint! Thanks for the info. Well, I'll wait and see if the company writes back to me! I also bought pure potassium carbonate though! It'll take a few days though! Let's see who's faster! Amazon or the company with the email!

I have a question! When you cook the tobacco at, for example, 80c, do you leave the lid on or do you take the lid off?
And what I also wanted to ask is: when you age the tobacco for a few weeks, do you leave the lid on?

Do you refill the evaporated water at the end?
