43 days in the kiln and I pulled my first Burley primings. First picture is unknown local white stem variety. Second picture is KY17. I'm really happy with the results so far, and I definitely won't be needing to purchase any Burley for a long time. 3rd picture is my new drying process in the sub basement, I'm trying different processes to prevent mold so I'm thinking that after my kilning is complete I'll just hang up the sorted hands back in the kiln at a low case RH before packaging. 20241124_001436.jpg20241124_091909.jpg20241124_214010.jpg

This is my first year growing Burley, and Friday it occurred to me I'm overthinking the whole process. After losing some of my cigar leaf to mold I was burning brain calories on how to preserve the whole leaf in low case. Then it occurred to me shred all of it for packaging, duh. So yesterday I destemmed and shredded one hand of my KY 17 P1 which came out to 4.5 Oz. with my .8mm hand crank shredder. I designated this hand for smokeless. Then I put one of my cheap humidor hygrometers in the bag till it reaches an acceptable RH with the zipper open. After shredding all that I sent a link from WLT for the new HD ELECTRIC SHREDDER which is 20% off this weekend. She always gets frustrated Christmas shopping for me because I have already bought what I want. So I will be eagerly awaiting December 25. Thanks to @FmGrowit for doing a Black Friday every year. Second picture is Meatporn from a Turkey I smoked yesterday. 20241129_084759.jpg20241128_101553.jpg

Happy Thanksgiving fellas.
