A while back in November 2014, I started getting low on Cigar filler and wrapper, I started rolling my 2nds. I found a ½ pound bag of the Paraguay Flojo Viso (African seed) while doing my spring clean of my closet where I store all my tobacco. Consisting of whatever I had left over from WLT, and some leaf I picked up from BigBohnner, I started cranking out mixed blends of this and that. After that, I threw them in my back up Humidor, and let them sit.

I honestly didn't think that letting these seconds would turn out to be anything more than a 3 star yard 'gar, but they do come in handy when you're not too picky. They're still better than sticks I've waisted my money on in the past that went for $2 to $5 a stick.

Fast forward to February, 2015. I've already rolled a ton of my favorite cigars in January, minus the Wrapper, which I'll order here soon.

Sooo, wanting something "different", I grabbed for one with this label:

Paraguay Wrapper
(no binder listed, but I only had Ct. Broadleaf and One Sucker)
One Sucker filler ½
Nic. Hab. Seco ½
1 leaf Nic. Habano Viso (must have been my last leaf)
1 leaf Dark Air from WLT

So, I fired this 60 rg. baby up. Not bad, not bad, then oh! This has a good taste, then Wow! This tastes great! It had a subtle hint of wood and pepper, along with nuances of raisins similar to a A. Fuente, and a slight tartness that reminds me of yogurt. Then the Nic. Habano Seco Woody/earthiness kicked in along with the Dark Air for a nice Nicotine kick! No way I was putting this down half way through! All the flavors married wonderfully, and I was shocked!
I took it to the nub, with no aftertaste except yummy goodness through and through.

Now, I'm wondering how to repeat this without the Flojo Viso???

Sometimes good things come to those that wait. Glad you found a nice prize in the bottom of the closet.
I had a few good cigars from scraps lately. You never know.
I bet that Flojo added some nice smooth sweetness. I just read of a commercial cigar that uses Meta Fina for a wrapper I have been trying to find more out about that leaf.
The Meta Fina I bought would have never made a wrapper. Can some give me some info on this type of wrapper leaf ?

i had to read the post to figure out what a yard gar was. i guess i am a little slow at times. it sort of sounds like my lawn mower brew.

Mata Fina is an agricultural region near Bahia, Brazil. "Mata Fina" tobacco is grown there from the variety, "Bahia," and gives Brazilian cigars their distinctive taste and aroma. It is usually filler grade. As with all tobacco, a Bahia crop will produce numerous grades from the various stalk positions.

I personally love the Brazilian Mata Fina. Although it is a filler grade, some of the larger leaves can be used as a binder or wrapper in a smaller RG Cigar. Bob, I read a thread of yours a while back about the Mata Fina Puros going for $25+. Can't believe I haven't tried that yet, but still have a ¼ pound or so I could probably roll a corona or two.

Charlie G. The Flojo Viso did add something to the Dark Air center that did give it a unique aroma and taste. It's too bad no one discovered this before when it was in stock. That doesn't mean we can't come close to it in a new blend?
