Temperature and humidity controllers

Nothing is ever simple is it? Rainwater is contaminated with all kinds of chemicals from mercury to dioxin, bisphenol-A and more yummy stuff. We have so F#$cked up our environment its amazing we are still alive. I use a hot air humidifier in my kiln with well water and my tobacco taste great.

I'm going to use a carrier 92% propane furnace for the heat and humidity. The 92% furnace extracts so much water out of the propane (with no smell) I plan to add a tee to the exaust pipe and a damper on each side when i need more humidity the carrier thermidistat will open the exaust damper to the barn and close the damper to the outside wall-ah perfect temp and humidity. All of it programable. Doesnt hurt to be a carrier dealer!

Good Idea. AS I understand it the output is CO2, water vapor and a small amount of cabon monoxide. None of these should hurt your tobacco. You might be cautious about the amount of water vapor.

If the carbon monoxide is a problem i'll just add a inline humidifier to the system,and do away with the exaust, it's a nice thought though the unlimited supply of moisture thats in the propane. I can still control it with the thermidistat. One would think if carbon monoxide were a problem we wouldnt have fire cured baccy right? I plan on this being 100% fresh air return , that should cause the barn to be under positive preshure and force the moisture out of the stems that much faster. What do yall think 8' x 8' x 10' tall barn 90,000 btu furnace? I'd like to think with it totally sealed up to withstand a total external static preashure of 3.0 before any loss should also force the heat to the center of the stem faster.

Sounds reasonable. I don't think the CO will be a problem for the tobacco. What kind of outside temps are we talking about? Are you thinking about pressurizing the barn with the flue gas or did I misunderstand?

I bought these on eBay. Haven't received the humidity controller yet.

Did anyone notice that the temp controller is 120v and the humidity controller is 220v?

If you have the option run them 230 volt the amperage will be half of the same unit on 120 volt,plus you can safely drop the wire size too and that = LESS MONEY for elect, and wire. woo hoo i like the sound of that.

REMEMBER

THE WORKING UNITS HAVE DO BE WIRED FOR 220 ALSO ! ! ! ! ! 120V units hooked to 220 make GREAT sparks and smoke.

the time is coming when, i will be seriouslly looking for a device to regulate my heat/humidity makers,

Any update on the controllers? How did it go? Do they come with remote sensors so the controllers can be mounted outside the kiln?
