Fat Bulldog

Algerian plateau briar bulldog, by Aaron.

I opened an unexpected parcel today. This is what I found. Nothing can put a smile on a pipe smoker's face more than a new, custom-made pipe.

The plateau's straight grain rises symmetrically over the entire bowl.

Bottom end grain.

It's difficult to see in the photo, but birdseye grain embellishes the top of the bowl.

Snowball Rhino plastic, with brass shims.

Marbled brown ebonite.

This photo was provided by Aaron. The monster block in the
upper right is the one that became my pipe.

Really beautiful work. Is that a natural finish?...beeswax perhaps?

I don't recall seeing the thread on Aaron advertising his pipes.

Thank You! I used a very light beige stain early in the process, most of which got sanded off. The rest is Carnauba wax.

It's taken me a long time to get these done. I think it was back in September of 2012 when I offered to make a few. This one was the fourth one out of the five requested. Now to start the fifth.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the kind words. This pipe was a real challenge for me. I was just trying to think back a bit and if my memory serves me this is only the 9th pipe I've ever made. I still have lots to learn, but it has been a honor to work on these pipes for my FTT brothers. More to come.
