Pasta Machines Suck, Butt, I might have found a cure

I have blown up three Machines.
Yes, I use a mororized one due to my neck and back problems.
The clips that hold the gears on are the problem.
They pop off wrecking the shaft.
I used a 3-32 tap I think, and a machine screw with some bushings to fix it.
Works Great. AND I put her thru HELL!!

That's exactly what I found out to be the problem too. My shredder looks a hell of a lot cheaper than yours, but I'll be giving them away with a purchase of 5 lbs of backy blend (1 lb. Burley, 1 lb. Dark Air (second priming) 2 lbs Flue Cured Virginia Bright Leaf and 1 lb. Turkish.)


The gears are just stamped steel. I'm looking for machined replacements now.


The clips don't hold the rakes in place and your solution is about the only thing I could think of too.

It will take about an hour to tear these down and rebuild them will the improved parts. If they last through 5 lbs. of baccy, I'll be happy.

Sorry, I gave you the wrong pic. I took some new ones.
I inquired about getting gears made. Not Cheap. But if the c clip problem is fixed with maybe with a O Clip
It might fix the problem?
Sorry the stainless steel gives a glare.
The Roma and the Shule have different size Gears.
Shule is a wider machine.

What OD and bore size on your gears?

Bore size looks the same I do not have a micrometer at home. But the bent up gears want to go on.
The Roma machine has 11 teeth.
The Shule has 12 teeth.

If it's a 3 gauge it's 56 tpi. It it's a 32 tpi then it is probably 6 gauge. They really look different. If you used a common tap my best guess is 4-40 tpi.

What OD and bore size on your gears?

I forgot the mic.
The shule is about 12 mm.
And the Roma, looks like the one the ones you have posted is 10 mm. OD.
Inside gear size without the flat is about 8 mm. on both.

Tearing them apart is easy, putting them back together is the trick.
