Prilep Snus

Cooked up a batch of Snus from my homegrown Prilep from the Spring of this year. Total cook time was 56 hours at 176 degrees. It smells like it should at this stage, I'll let you know if it's any good in about 10 days or so.

Update on the Prilep Snus. The aroma and taste of this batch is very good, however, the nicotine is not even detectable. I'll use the rest of the Prilep for blending with stronger tobaccos. I should have known better than to use straight Prilep. Squeezy John mentioned in his snus making post, that oriental varieties have very little use for snus making, but being the bonehead that I am, I tried it anyway. Live and learn.

Taste is very hard to describe, smells are a little easier for me. There is a hint of sweetness to it, as far as taste goes. The smell, to me, was a musky almost smelly feet kind of smell, but just a hint of that. I know that sounds kind of gross, but it was not unpleasant. Overall, it had a rich, nice smell. I'm sure it would blend well with stronger types of tobacco like rustica, dark air cured or other high nicotine varieties and produce a good quality snus.
