Thanks Brent,only have a small yard 5 acres but am surrounded by thousands of acres of state land to play on hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, etc

Got my alpaca poo and did some tilling and got a good surprise, decent dirt

Yesterday was not a gonmood day i broke everything i touched,riding lawnmower,rototiller and various other small things around the house,the neighbor is coming today to finish my patch so i can get the plants in the ground

I've had days like that ...best to just stop doing any work and go have a cigar and a stiff drink and start over again the next day.

Patch finally done being tilled,taters are where the flags are,will commence planting of baccy,corn,more taters,radishes,onions,carrots,green beans,tomatoes,cucumbers,yellow crook neck squash and zucchini

Was Bamboo Shoot a 'sucker monster' for you? I am loving how it is growing, but the suckers at this early stage make it "high maintenance".

Not as much as my burley,I'm only home on weekends usaully, so I would do sucker removal in the morning or afternoon when I was wondering the patch,the taste of the finished product makes it worth the effort to me

i still get a giggle at what you a '' northerner'' said when you seen my tropical front yard..

well i have 600 in the ground now watered in with rocket fuel(saltpeter,baking powder,ammonia,epsom salt)plus admire,the plants I put in 3 days ago are already showing excellent growth, I think they like being out of their styrofoam prison cells pics in morning too dark tonight

is this Rocketfuel you mention something you came up with ? Can you tell me why you use saltpeter and baking soda in it?

What's the purpose of the baking powder?

I'm just guessing a few possibilities: Calcium phosphate, or maybe the CO^2 aerating action of baking powder is helpful for root stimulation?

i could be way off.

It an old farmer fertilizer recipe not a scientist,just on old truck driver, all i know is it works and fast saltpeter is also called potassium nitrate
