I should have some pics sent tomorrow of my catfishing weekend. I may need to move this thread to providing for the table.
I recently got a new tractor and have been clearing my land at home and digging ponds to help with drainage. It has opened up areas totally unacessable previously and have been planting deer forage. I continually catch deer glimpses now cruising my property.
Is it still wrong to call COVID the china virus. I'm just curious.
I'm getting the impression it's becoming more socially acceptable to place the name of a virus to where it originated. No blame intended or implied to where it might have been created or spontaneously originated from of course...
Spanish flu, German measles, no different to me.I'm getting the impression it's becoming more socially acceptable to place the name of a virus to where it originated. No blame intended or implied to where it might have been created or spontaneously originated from of course...
It was common practice for the CDC to name viruses after regions they were found in pre dating covid. Take Ebola and lassa for example, both named after a river and town in Africa respectively, near where they originally found. What is most disturbing about covid is the amount of suppression dealing with information in its early days (and latter) and how so many people took part in it.Why the use of terms like "China virus" and "Wuhan virus" was discouraged worldwide:
"These survey findings follow a spike in reports of discrimination against Asian Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of federally recognized hate crime incidents of anti-Asian bias increased from 158 in 2019 to...746 in 2021, according to hate crime statistics published by the FBI."
"...previous research found that calling COVID-19 the “Chinese Virus,” “Asian Virus” or other names that attach location or ethnicity to the disease was associated with anti-Asian sentiment in online discourse. Use of these phrases by politicians or other prominent public officials...coincided with greater use among the general public and more frequent instances of bias against Asian Americans."

Would it matter? The lies are blatant yet the people do nothing either because of ignorance or apathy. Regardless, they get the suffering they deserve.PC the virus away, I suppose. As I stated, one of the fundamental problems I had with covid was the concerted effort to suppress freedom of information involving it. Suppressing information is never a good thing for free societies. It hampers science and hinders individuals from making proper judgements based on logical reasoning. It was perhaps more dangerous than the virus in hindsight.
