Thank you, Bob!

I waited until later in the day for it to dry. Everyday pretty much has rain in the forecast. Not complaining at all just want to find time to get the leaves and pods. Harvested some corojo leaves and jasmine seed pods yesterday. Loved this beautiful corojo leaf and the jasmine definitely doesn’t have as many seeds as the other tobacco does. I still have more pods to get but I just feel like it doesn’t produce as much as the other plants. Not to mention they will start spilling the seeds on the ground if you aren’t fast enough or careful.

Have been harvesting more leaves as they are ready and gathering jasmine seed pods.

A very nice Virginia 116 and Corojo 99 leaf. The Virginia leaves are very big. Looking forward to trying them.

Was wondering if the other tobacco plants don’t grow to their full potential are the leaves worth harvesting and trying or should I just let them die out?

Thank you, Bob and Johnny108!

I know all too well of trying it and it doesn’t work and getting good practice for the next grow lol. This thread could easily be retitled the Tobacco growing woes of ChrisN lol.
It does definitely help and love the great help, advice, and tips from this forum. It’s the best place with loads of great information and people ;).

I can’t thank you all enough for everything!

I will for sure try it and harvest what I can with what I got. I’ll take pictures of the other (I call the other plants “pathetic”) plants but fair warning most didn’t grow at all. They are literally just living. I’m not sure how much leaves I’ll be able to harvest from them.

Started aging my leaves and noticed that some leaves are forming white cottony mold. Can the leaves be saved and the mold be removed by rubbing hydrogen peroxide on them?

Mold can only occur if the leaf is in too high a case when stored. While H2O2 will kill the mold, it will not remove any aflatoxins that may have been produced by the mold. The safest approach would be to discard the sections of leaf that exhibit mold, and store the remainder at lower case.

If none of the leaf will be used for smokeless tobacco or cigar wrapper, then just killing the mold and drying the tobacco will be sufficient. That is because, if you're not actually sucking on the leaf itself, combustion will destroy any aflatoxins present.

Just discard by using the cheese rule. If you know what I mean. Also mold can't grow when the leaf is dry. Warmth and heat I bought some and it was summer and the leaf ended up getting moldy as it was hot and a little more humid. Always keep your tobacco in a dark place.

Sounds good, Thank you, Bob! I’ll just wipe the moldy leaves with hydrogen peroxide, dry them, and use them as filler for a cigar or shred for pipe. I’ll just plan to be more careful, try to keep humidity low for low case for leaves for wrapper, and grow some more leaves for wrapper.
