I'm gonna try that coffee Winston. ..& the salt..
It seems the hot dry weather in turkey produces concentrated flavor in all plants etc. .I noticed last year the baccy grown with less water was stronger and had more flavor. .

LOL, coffee and tea plants can't tolerate hot and dry weather. Both coffee and tea growing regions have to be very humid and rainy.

If you make tea from fresh tea leaves it will taste similar to Green Tea - which is just dried, not fermented. On the other hand Black Tea is subjected to a fermentation process so it's cured. There's another tea type called White Tea but I didn't taste it yet. As said it's made from only youngest tea sprouts and just dried - not fermented.

The gaerdenya {misspeit] Is in the tea plant famley.

If you meant Gardenia, it's not from Camellia genus even it's not a member of Theaceae family.

Quality of higher altitude grown tea is higher but their yield is lower, so a balance between quality and yield is preferred.

Caykur is the very brand that I buy! There are four varieties available at the market where I get it, I was never able to figure out the differences ... I assumed it was the quality of the leaf, so I've been buying the one that is priced highest, in the black bag.

I'm delighted that there's been discussion of tea this morning ... that I'm not the only tea drinker here (and I hate the taste of coffee). Tea and cigarettes go very well together too; I don't think I can even drink a cup of tea without having a smoke with it!

P.S. Thanks for adding the video. I never saw tea being harvested before. Someday I must get back to Turkey again; 20 years ago I never went farther east than Cappadocia. I would like to see Pontus (Eastern Black Sea region), and Mount Nemrut.

Istanbulin,
Do you know how easy is it to get from Turkey to Georgia and Armenia? Does Turkish Airlines have short-distance service from Ankara or one of the cities in eastern Turkey to Georgia and Armenia?
