Aristocob is legitimate. Your conjectures are interesting, but I believe they are incorrect.

Aristocob contact info:
  • CornCobPipes@Aristocob.com
  • "Another option is to text us at 336-701-COBS (336-701-2627) or leave a voice mail and we will get back with you. However, because we do not have 'business hours', we do not answer the phone or check it as often as we do our emails or texts."

Well glad to hear you have had no problems with them but my caution is just common sense. I was looking for pipe corn seed and when went to aristocob who was offering seed and saw the picture offering sweet corn seed... well what am I supposed to think? That's like offering watermelon seed and then giving people muskmelon seed instead. What am I to think other than they don't what they are talking about or they are not legit? But if you all have ordered from them and actually received a white dent corn seed suitable for pipe corn fine. Still is very strange that they would display a yellow sweet corn seed instead. What am I to think?

If you read at bottom of page:

The seeds shown in the photo are "body double" stand-ins for the actual seeds, as we are still awaiting the seed shipment from MM

I was looking for corn seeds suitable for pipe making and the only two sources I could find were Aristocob and this:
https://www.rareseeds.com/missouri-pipe-corn/reviews/
But the seeds are unavailable at the moment.

The alternative to the uncomfortable thought of purchasing seed from a non-Monsanto, non-ADM corporation (i.e. from aristocob.com) would be to visit Boone County in northern Kentucky. Boone County field corn produces some pretty nice pipe cobs on their 12 to 15 foot stalks. In my direct comparison, the seed from aristocob made more or less the same number of suitable cobs per plant, but the latter tended to be fatter. By contrast, the Boone County cobs that were suitable for a pipe tended to be longer than the MM cobs.

Scott from Aristocob.com here. Just thought I'd jump in and offer some clarification to the question of the authenticity of the "Homegrown Cobfoolery" seed corn we offer. Yes, the seed was provided by Missouri Meerschaum and yes, I created the photo for our webpage in the days prior to receiving the actual seed from MM, so I used some common sweet corn seeds that I had on hand. I never imagined that anyone would do a forensic study of the photo and Fatrat, your skepticism WAS warranted!
BTW, I did a great interview with Phil Morgan in a Youtube video where he gave tips for the successful growing of the seeds and if anyone is interested in growing some I highly recommend giving it a view.

Okay, it has been established Aristocob and it's pipe corn seeds are legit. I will get my order in today for seeds if they are available. I just had to question it because I ordered bean seeds once from an internet seed company that turned out to be a complete fraud, no seeds, no company, no nothing, just people collecting money for nothing.

Well I tried to order the seeds but it looks like there is nothing available for this year yet.
