I just got some of the Ecuador Maduro and can't wait rolling a few using it.
Sounds like a tasty blend Harley.

For gluing on the band, I use one of those stationary glue sticks, you know, the kind kids use for arts and crafts, etc. I normally use them to glue my wine labels on the bottles of my wine, the glue stays good, but easy washes off as well. So, I decided to try them on my cigar bands, and low and behold, the glue stick works just as good for that application. Easy and messy-less to apply, and they are inexpensive. And, the glue doesn't tend to rip the wrapper if you want to take the band off.

Yeah, a glue stick is a good idea. And if you limit the glue to the outside on just one end of the band, then the chance of sticking to the wrapper is nil. I wonder how long glue stick glue will hang on in a 65% humidity environment?

Typically, bands are purposefully glued to the wrapper on cellophaned sticks so they don't slip on insertion. not so much on non cellophaned ones.

Thanks very much for that nice review. I give a few out here and there to my buddies and all I get is a "that was a good cigar" but no one can taste the flavors or notes in it. So, I'm glad you took the time to break it down . Did you remove the band and see if I wrote the blend anywhere?
Yeah , that bands image is from the guy that made the custom shirt my wife bought me last year. I just copy/pasted the image off the proof he had sent (might have been a little fuzzy intentionally to discourage copying,OR my printer doesn't have the detail I'd need ...oh well right? ) to my document file ,resized it to cigar band scale and duplicated the heck out of it to make about 12 on a standard sheet of paper . I didn't have any cigar glue in the container when I banded it so thats why it ended up with tape.

Double-checked -- nothing written under the band

Your pic can have a resolution, and your printer can have a resolution too. Thing is to match the max pixels per inch of your printer to the pixels per inch of your image. After that, you just have to live with it.

I've been experimenting with the San Vincente Liguero and Piloto Liguero, with some interesting results, but no home run yet. Both are interesting.

BTW, on the glue sticks, I have not had any 'yet' to unraveled in the humidor, and I have been doing it for about a year. Also, I purposefully applied the glue to stick to the band and the wrapper, and when I tried to take the band off (with bated breath) I expected it to rip the wrapper, but it just seems to pull off real nice without tearing. That's my experience so far with the glue stick, for me it is a keeper.

Did it this morning... thanks for getting me off the dime on this.

1) I went on line and looked up my printer model. I found the max resolution in pixels. Mine said 1200. HP model Photosmart 3200

2) I wanted a band 3 1/4" wide, 2/3" high. So I opened up a pic to use as background (I use GIMP for pictures. It's a Linux thing; but I'm sure someone has ported it to Micro$uck Windoze as well) and cropped out something 3900 pixels wide (cause that's 3.25 x 1200) and 800 tall. Saved that as my new cigar band image. Opened another pic I wanted to use as a logo, sized it, pasted it as a new layer on my background. Put my writing on it. There it is.

3) Pasted that image ten times on a document

4) set my printer to hi res

5) Printed.

Easy to do as it was to write up.

Your image can be as low as 200 dpi and it'll be photographic quality. 300dpi would be ultrafine photographic quality. Super-duper fashion mags might be 170. The fact that your printer can print more is a nice bonus. Your file could be 675x200 and it'll look photographic if your paper can handle it. Might even look better than what you're doing now.

Okay, Webby. ;)

Sounds like you believe it strongly.

I work in the digital print biz, have done for thirty years. It is my profession. Books, photography, publishing. Printing. I've taught Photoshop in the print industry since it was Digital Darkroom in the eighties. I am a type designer. I worked for a book publisher for ten years, working entirely in the digital realm.

Don't know if any of that will interest you in looking this shit up or not. Doesn't matter so long as you're happy with your labels.

I bow to your expertise. All's I know about images is not much: 1) don't keep saving the file over and over, 2) few dots for a web page, 3) lotsa dots for my printer.

I'll see if I can dig up SmokinHarley's blurry band and mail it to you. Shoot me your addy. Perhaps you can figure out what he's doing wrong. Looks like you're the guy to ask.
