The build of it looks like it could be fitted for the motor off of a deli slicer I have. Just pull the crank screw and put the gear head from the slicer on, and flip the switch. That looks like a heavy duty, easy to take care of unit. I would buy one just to do that very thing. A hole below it with a catch bag as well. Nice unit. Mad-

The finish is very utilitarian, but the gears are brass or bronze and the cutter shafts appear to be brass. I used a magnifying glass to look over the whole thing and couldn't find any makings of any kind. The hex bolts seem to suggest post war, but half of Germany was under Soviet control after the war, so it could be an unhappy marriage of both German (brass, bronze and hex bolts) and Soviet rough cast pot metal.

The way the vice is made and body, I think it would take it fine. We can Americanize it real well. It can only hold so much leaf at a slow turn. If it will crank out stems, Leaf will turn fine. I think. Mad- I would go for it...

Count me in for one! This shredder looks amazing, and so does the leaf cut.

I really like this one! Are they simply going to duplicate it? Looks rugged as hell.

Are they simply going to duplicate it?

The engineers over there will make some modifications to reduce costs...probably in the thickness of some materials or using the design to create stamped steel part opposed to cast pot metal. There's no reason to use brass for the shafts and bolts and the cutters will likely be several thousandths different, but the basic design will be the same.

The one in the picture looks great. Simple and effective. Just what want.

I don't want to spend a lot of money just to shred tobacco--for my personal needs I'm doing it with scissors, folding leaf into a pad and cutting very thin slices diagonally against the veins, so that I end up with thin and short rectangles that are fine for my cigarette making machine. I found this method on youtube. But I get blisters on my thumb after a while, and there are other annoyances, like the little pieces sticking together unless the leaf is quite dry. I usually have to dry it in the oven for 10 minutes to get the little flakes to separate.

A reliable manual shredder is just the thing I want. I tried pasta cutters but...not so good.

So, when can we expect to be able to obtain this shredder?

I ordered this one a few weeks ago, got it yesterday and express shipped it to China within hours.

This one shreds stems with ease (not that I suggest smoking stems). The only modifications it needs is to create a smoother surface. The cut is prefect.

Someone made it simpler, clamp on, and light to ship. They DID invent the better mouse trap! Hmmm, shreds stems too. I wonder if that'll help the snuss users or not?

I asked for an update last week and was told they are working on them. We haven't even begun working on the packaging, but I'll try to get a dozen or so for "testing purposes" and get them to some of you who have been waiting for them.
