Using wholeleaftobacco Maryland 609
1. shredded first... almost a shame to cut up this most perfect leaf
2. toasted in oven 250 F for 1 hr
3. prepared casing... 1 part light agave syrup (Domino brand) and 10 parts water
4. marinated the Maryland right out of the oven in the casing for 1/2 hour, I do this in a bowl and add just enough to cover/soak the tobacco
5. strain excess
6. dry in 175 F oven till crispy
7. let sit out overnight to absorb some moisture from the air (depends on your weather conditions)

Did not come out sticky. Smokes super cool, lots of smoke, and burns very well. Zero harshness. Did not really detect sweetness, below my threshold. Flavor is mellow and a little nutty like. Nice full bodied smoke all alone. Even better as a blender to add smoke, great burn characteristics, and depth without overpowering the other players. Big difference from the raw leaf, I really like it, another for the arsenal. :)

Best of luck with your 609 garden... I was on the fence with the Maryland for cigarettes till I tried the toasting and casing, now a must have...

Not that I know of... does not tastes like it... fermentation is for cigars...

Fermentation is also for cigarettes. The industry just calls it a different name. Cigarette tobacco is "sweated" It is like a cigar fermantation but it occurs at much lowers temperatures.
