Some info on Brazilian tobacco, including Arapiraca:

TABLE_BrazilLeafCharacteristics.jpg

“At Mata Fina the whole stem of the tobacco plant is harvested. The whole plant, including its leaves, is hung up to dry. Traditionally in Arapiraca they harvest leaf for leaf. Brazil tobacco is air-dried in the barns for about 30 days...

...Brazil tobaccos are piled up into heavy cubes measuring 3 by 5 meters and weighing 12 to 18 tons. At an exactly controlled temperature of 55 degrees Celsius [131 degrees F] they are naturally processed for eight months."

“The large tobacco bulks – pilons – are bigger in Arapiraca. That is to say, the temperature of fermentation is higher.”

A very lengthy and deep search of GRIN (including in the pdf accession docs) fails to turn up any reference to Arapiraca. So, the seed is not readily available. The WLT Arapiraca wrapper should be interesting.

I was about to ask, but I think DIY Pete confirmed.
Wasn't the Flojo Viso a much praised leaf?

What did it bring to the party, and what did it blend well with?

Thanks.

Lew, I'm not the best with describing flavors in tobacco but to me it brought dark flavors to the table. Kind of like the difference between milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Not a lot of spice. Pete

Flojo went well with almost everything. I found the flavour more nutty than spicy. It also burnt very well and made lots of thick smoke.

I'm completely at the mercy of several government agencies. All I can tell you is the order has been placed and paid for. My import broker has been notified and the paperwork from the supplier in the DR has been received. Now it all depends on what kind of mood customs is in.

Easier to buy pot than it is to buy Flojo. Appears some tax revenue is greener than others. The times they are a changin

I've tried to reach Don by email and through the site and haven't heard a word from him. Not sure what's going on. I check the site daily looking for the new stuff.

He's prolly just tired of answering the same question the same way over and over. In a perfect world, he'd be leasing a warehouse with two rollup doors, steada just a single. In a perfect world, he'd have an extra forty grand in his pocket to stock everything. Most of all, in a perfect world, he'd put in his order with a genial mustachioed island gentleman, that gent would dispatch it promptly, no pin head bureaucrats would hijack his shipment at the port, and what came in would be exactly what he ordered. In a perfect world.

I know this: He ever gets this goodness in, I'm plonking my bucks down macht schnell.
