Can you take a picture of one of the Black Sea Samsun? Mine are very tall but the leaves are smaller like most Turkish varieties.
I get you a photo in the morning to hot now (I'm AC SPOILED)
There good sized plants
If given sufficient spacing, Samsun will grow quite large.

Bob
My spacing is 4' (rows) & 20" (plants)

The Samsun I have grown DonH the Black Sea
In the photos I have 2 yard sticks taped together can't really read them but they do give an idea of the size.
The Black Sea is about 4 Ft. at present

Those don't look like Samsun to me. I will go grab a closeup of some of my Samsun leaves. Yours look like an American variety.

The PHYB is a hybrid from Grin not really classed as a Tobacco but am checking it out.

Samsun has a heart-shaped, petiolate leaf, that is, one with a stem (with a bit of frill) that separates the leaf from the stalk.

Does the 1st photo look like Black Sea to you Bob?
The first one does not, but I don't get a good view of the base of any leaf. The leaf shape also seems more elongated than Samsun (all Samsun is "Black Sea" Samsun--that's where the town of Samsun is located). If that is supposed to be a petunia-Samsun hybrid, then I haven't a clue.

The plant circled in red does appear to be Samsun. In addition to the petiolated leaf, the veins of Samsun typically form a fan shape, with the veins near the leaf base reaching backward.

The 2 bottom photos are the hybrids PHYB 1 And PHYB 2 the top photo is supposed to be the BSS.
The seed for the PHYB came from GRIN and the seed for the BSS came from seedman.
I'll have a look at the Veins of the BSS and get you a better photo/s Deluxe "Bob"
If the top photo is a Samsun / BSS it is a beautiful plant.

My bss looks like yours
Which of the photos does yours look like grgfinney?

that patch looks very good,,, damn near perfect spacing,
Glad I went with that spacing because they are getting tight. Will be starting priming before long the lugs I'll use for testing but will not be keeping them.
I have 3 varieties left to bag out of the 14 just waiting for those to grow out a bit more first. I have on most of the varieties bagged 3 plants.
In the evening at dusk it looks like a bunch of little ghost floating over the patch.
