Now the snow is gone, but maybe only temporarily :)
Have planted the four varieties I will grow this year, but only to check the germination, and the first sprouts have appeared after 7 days.

This year it will be:
Virginia Brightleaf
PY KY171 DAC
Tofta
Prilep

Damn, the snow really clears fast down there. What kind of themperatures are you having? I Guess its kind of a sea climate?
Good luck with the grow!
Thanks, you too. I live inland, but it still counts as the west coast here, so it turns around fast. This particular winter has been quite cold and we have had snow for quite some time. Unusually long. Photo from right now .

Then I replanted all the plants. In total there are 264, of which I intend to grow 117, I have 77 as a reserve and the rest I give away. This year it will mainly be Virginia Brightleaf, PY KY171 DAC and Tofta that I grow. All these give a very good snus. Planning to put the plants out in the open at the end of May/beginning of June, all depending on the weather and weather forecasts. But the question is what will happen to my 77 reserve plants. Will I throw them away? :ROFLMAO:

Worked up the tobacco field with the tiller for the first time now. Since I apparently have to weigh, measure and time everything, I can report that it took exactly 33 minutes, and completely non-stop :D now it will soon be on a load of cow manure, then milling a couple more times, driving up rows, laying down water hoses, and then plant everything out at the end of May/beginning of June. To be continued .... ;)

As the farmers say, now it smells like money here :)

There was a very thick layer of cow manure, so thick that it was difficult to drive it down with the cultivator. Will let the rain dissolve it, then run the cultivator a few more times. 3-4 weeks left before the plants are to be set out

My patience is about to run out, but dare not (shouldn't) put the plants out yet, there may be frosty nights for at least 2-3 more weeks. But now most things are prepared, and the plants have been allowed to come out today and sunbathe a bit

Having the self control to put them in the ground is the hardest part. Proud of you for holding back! Seems that the weather is quite different from last year. We were in Sweden on vacation last year late May near Tjorn and Trollhattan and it was in the 80s and 90s. Few more weeks and you'll be well on your way! Plants look beautiful.

Thanks. Last year we had a few frosty nights at the beginning of June, and that's what I'm afraid of this year too, but now the forecast looks good, so I'll plant out in a week or so. How nice that you were here on holiday, I live only about 30 minutes by car from Trollhättan :)

You really cannot gauge the weather until mid June in our northern latitude sadly. Mid June always seems safe. Thats cool you live near there, we loved Sweden and I ESPECIALLY loved the gas stations and grocery stores with their plethora of Snus options. Wish we had that here but the cigarette companies have their greasy hands in the govt. pockets.
