Gosh you are doing a nice shiny job on the old Horse!
Have you checked for runout in the drive axle and tine shaft bearings?
If it's ok, you might replace those seals so it will not leak oil all over the new paint...
Good job on pulling that wheel off! I would have just pulled the pin, then ran it until it worked it's way loose. lol
...always lookin' for the EZ button...

well i got the tires swapped and the belts installed today.. and it officially made its first pass. and what a awesome job it did....

im also in the process of doing some fabricating on my front tine tiller. im digging out all my tiller parts i got. it has 4 tines right now 2 on each side. im gonna see if i can with some welding. put 4 tines on each side. for a total of 8 tines, we will see how that goes.. ill keep you updated in this thread,

but heres the beast in all her glory. all thats left is to refill the transmission. and order the decals.

my front tine tilller im gonna be working on..IMG_20151017_175928810.jpgIMG_20151017_175802434.jpg

its allmost a shame to put this tiller in the shed, it wouldnt take much to bring it back to life,,IMG_20151017_175911022.jpgIMG_20151017_175802434.jpg

and the thick fluid that the manual calls for for the tranny,,IMG_20151017_175950513.jpg

Looks Nice, Super Job.
I wish I could have a good workout.

yep.. im getting a workout... i got the fall garden seeds sprouted. and i was trying to make it all tie in toghter. to have the dirt tilled with the horse. before the plants were ready to be dropped.

i have been hitting the dirt with the front tine tiller simply to put a load on the new motor to help break it in.. i got one thing to do to the horse tomorrow, and that to take a cutting torch and remove the '' depth regualating '' rod from it.. it's bolt is rusted and stripped. so im removing the thing. because in my eyes thiers only one depth.. and thats all the way down so the rod is useless to me right now it drags in the dirt as i till making it bog down. and the horse is designed to where when you till the soil left behind it's wake is supposed to be flat and smooth.

and that rod is creating a trench so its got to go

i may make a video of it in action. but after i get all the engine...and tiller decals. she's gonna be beautifull

Chicken,
Nice work on the big one. When you consider adding tines to the smaller one, keep in mind that the more tines there are, the heavier the tiller has to be to cause them to penetrate the soil. [Infinite number of tines = a wheel.] That may not be a problem with your sandy soil.

good info.... at my job we deal with rail road cars... so i got some of them square heavy plates that the rail ties are beat into,, i also got a bunch of the rail road '' nails?'' [ spikes ] i was going to use all this to make a home-made cultivator with.

but if it indeed needs weight i got it,

yeah its the same one i bought the first time.

...............................................................................

well i got the depth adjusting rod removed. and its tilling the way it was meant to be. i tilled my neighbours spot yesterday. and found out he bought it new in 74' its only had one owner, it has these 2 '' rods '' that the motor holding assemblly slides up and down on which tightens the belts engaging the tines,

he had to replace one of these rods years ago. so at his job he machined 2 of them rods in case he needed them, and he gave them to me yesterday.

all thats left is to finish the paint and order decals at the beginning of the month. very soon this thing will be 100 % restored.
