$5 per pack.....2 pad smokers....3,650$/yr. I would be hard pressed to grow and preserve veggies of that value in my limited space.......and who spends $10 a day on veggies?

Actually, for my prefered brand (Export "A" full flavour 'green pack') it's $11.00 a pack (CAD) and I'm a 1 1/2 pack a day smoker. Growing my own is really the only choice I have. At 16.50 a day, it would cost $6022.00 anually. The cigs here have just got up in price. The Pall malls here are the cheapest at $8.00/pack but thats still $12.00/day for $4380.00/year. Now, If I could only figure out how to process and blend the baccy so it taste like that Export "A".

Chemical frenching from RoundUp application. Plants have overcame effects other than a little height stunting.:
Will post in frenching thread also.

Howdy Fisherman,

Good looking grow in the buckets! A lot of people don't think you can grow a descent plant in a buck and there's living proof!

Well one drawback of a larger plant in the 5 gallon bucket...................blowdowns :(

It doesnt hurt the stalk but plays hell with its neighbors when they crash into them. Is happening a lot now due to the dryness of the bucket soil in the 95 deg F temps we are having.

Planted 67 more a few days ago and will finish another 73 on monday. Mostly mixed variety for seed. Starting new plants in this heat is really hard but if I wanst so lazy I could start in shade and when started good move them to fuller sun :)

I added 2-3 plants per some buckets of oriental variety to get rid of some of the plants.

Will post new pics this week.

The roots growing into the gutters are pretty cool too. Havent seen any of the gold fish I added to the troughs but dont see any skeeter wigglers either.

Fish, I don't know a lot about your setup but if you want a sample of 40% shade cloth like I sent JBD and Workhorse PM me with your address and I'll send you 20 or 30 feet X 17 feet. All it will cost you is the postage. Check with them to see if they like/use it at all.

I appreciate the offer . That mite be a good thing for starting plants for second grow. It is sure ruff on the lil fellas.
I will pass tho as main concern will be the wind on the taller plants. Might have to rig up some sorta anchor and rope system for the buckets.

I get off tuesday and will post some pics and hopefully finish all the years planting. I gotta make grow bags starting tommorow tho. Got a few starting to flower and will bag a few regardless of their good or bad qualities until I get a good specimin flowering. In doing that tho I have to put full faith in the original seed producers quality. I just dont want to find I planted to late in year to mature seeds. Is already mid august and temps in October will dip into lower temps than I think are best for tobacco in my setup.

As long as the seed pods are well formed by first frost they can be topped and hung indoors to finish maturing.

The cloth will knock out about 40% of the sunlight and looks like the old style football jersey mesh with the .25 inch holes in it. It works great and is easy to use with a pvc hoop, with zip ties.

Is weird that there are few suckers but I cant keep up with topping . Every time I do they just grow back :(

This week will move the new crop to the sun and will install new parts in curing chamber and load with mature leaves from 2nd planting. I have some African Red that will be over 9' I am sure. I just hope will make seeds before the season is up.

The tallest and oldest are eating remnants of almost nothing in their soil that had already grown another crop. I do not know what is making them grow! All I know is I hope my sensors come in so I can flue some of the ripe leaf. It is getting a little humid here for air curing I think as I am starting to get a little more black spot on some leaf before it drys. And the dam flowers just wont quit. grrrrrrrrrrr

You've had a great year. The best container grow I've seen. I'm looking forward to more flue curing data. I'm going to let you guys get it down to a science and then build one myself.

Pretty impressive grow there fisherman. Damn, that's a lotta buckets.
You shouldn't have any trouble getting seeds from your African Reds. You have plenty of time left.
