You're looking at 1/3 more weight and 3 times the thickness. I could easily say that'd be a little bit exhausting; but I couldn't really say without trying it out. Might be awesome, who knows.

I think pointed ends like that would actually make what I do with capping easier than with the rounded ends I have now.

Kookaid I really like your design. I have a commercial Chaveta but I hardly ever use it as I don't like the thin spine and cannot sharpen it to my satisfaction. I also wish it had pointed ends. I usually always end up using one of my Japanese chef knifes - Santoku shaped. I would very much be interested in one if you make more.

It will take me some time to get it down. But forsue let me see what I come up with. I will try to match the dimensions that waikikigun posted but with pointed coroners. Just dont tell OSHA shh.. safety is subjective. Is that a Shun knife in the picture?

Well after cooking my old craftsman table saw I need to build an isolated stand for the forge then I will be back on track. This sucker puts out some BTU's!
