My first batch of Tobacco plants Grown in Johannesburg South Africa.

On 10th June 2020 I planted Havana & Virginia Gold Tobacco seeds in a small green house.
I started them with 1/4 vermicastings; 1/4 vermiculite & 1/2 coco coir

Today 15th June my Virginian Gold sprouted.
I left my Havana covered as they haven't sprouted yet.

My Virginia Gold are about 5mm tall.
My Havana haven't germinated yet.

Last week end I took my Virgina Gold & transplanted them into pots.
I was about to through my Havana out as I thought they weren't going to germinate.
Luckily I didn't as I see I have very small seedlings this morning.

I planted my Virginia Gold last week after I lost a few plants in my green house, I think I kept them a bit too wet..
I thought I was going to loose the rest this morning at the temp went down to 3 deg Celsius.
We are expecting another two days of cold & that should be the end of our cold this season.
I am thinking of mulching with some Alfalfa to give them a bit of warmth

Agribon (or something similar) would be a better option as it protects the seedlings but leaves light and water pass through. And offers a less friendly environment to slugs and snails than alfalfa mulch. Just a thought.
