Smoked some red Va from WLT. I pressed a mixture of 85% Red Va with 15% Red Va tips @2 tons for 24hrs. Then vacuumed wrapped and sous vide at 130f for a week. It definitely darkened quite a bit, and developed a nice raisiny smell. I only smoked half a bowl, the rest got tinned up.

Lovely smoke, rich tangy Va flavor. No tongue bite when smoked slowly. Slow burning and tons of smoke. I bet in a few months it will be even better. A little high on the Nic though.

Thanks. Every time I make a blend I always sample it right away and think “huh not bad”. Then I inevitably put it in a jar, unlabeled , for a year. Then when I come back I slap myself for not labeling things properly.
Used to do that a lot. Now I do it less. I write everything down now. Just takes a minute.

A very smart principal architect told me many years ago to make a written record log of every conversation I had with manufacturer's tech reps. Thought it was excessive at the time, but did it. When we finally arrived at mediation on that project much later  , I cannot tell you how right that guy was. Those logs saved us a lot of time and bacon.

You don't have to go as far as @deluxestogie with his great labels, but his do have everything on the front save the date. I'm sure he's got a system for time too, maybe another nice label on the back or a log

Not so advanced, I use masking tape and a fine sharpie. Works for me

Bar coding has been the wave of the future for the last ten years now.
One bar code per blend plus rating. Each individual tobacco in its own excel cell per blend.
Smoke later, scan and rate. Tobacco use is monitored and recorded. Years worth of basic stats can be easily performed to find the best underlying tobaccos across a vaiety of blends to suit the individual user.

(I hate it with a passion).
(Really really hate it ...)
(Don't like it at all. It's error prone, takes 10 times longer....)
But, it works. Damnit. Maybe a moderator will take pity and delete this post before AI takes over:)

Excel is what biologists use instead of a relational database management system. It's also the futile attempt at quantifying the qualitative. Besides, where would you fit the recipe for Rickie's Fromagina?

I would post a pic of the pipe I'm smoking this morning, but when I called for my pipe, and called for my bowl, I ended up fiddling with a cigar.

Peter Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake.

@Sid.Stavros, is there even one human visible in that first photo?

Bob

My dear Bob, due to the time that i took the picture the fishermen couldn't be on their boats but except this i pay attention to the photos that upload for: me or my family or my car not be visible, nor licence plates-names of boats-store signs of the area plus other people no matter if are local or tourists.;)
