Okay..first round of results.

since don was so generous and shipped so quickly.....moved some stuff around to shred /case and blend tonight.

below are grams

12 burley. 2 squirts of air cured casing
12 flue cured 2 squirts of flue cured casing
1.5 izmir
1 kentucky

combined the izmir and kentucky and gave 1.5 squirts of gp casing.

Little heavy on gp casing bc i wanted to tame the kentucky and izmir a bit...

here is the blend

4.5 burley
4.5 flue cured
.75 izmir
.25 kentucky

the burley pops and subtle izmir kentucky underlying flavour...not bad

it has several twists of flavour bc the 3 different leaves are are bold flavours?.the flue cured only appeared to moderate the other flavours....and got drowned out a bit

Heres a tip on the shred...

flue / burley / izmir shreds small and gives a bit of shake..bc of the threshed piece size.

when shredding the kentucky it give a long beefy shred.

ran the kentucky thru 2x in the shredder to avoid getting choke points ..

This worked pefectly as it kept the kentucky consistent in the blend to avoid a thick strand of kentucky from knocking you out....

One more thing.

You must add 1 tablespoon of water to the bottle of casing before you use it.

Can you fill in the blanks on the other two, as far as base flavor?

#1:
#2:
#3: GP = vanilla/coffee

Would love to know what to expect from the other two.

#1 is citrus based
#2 is chocolate based.

Please understand, there are more than flavoring agents in these casings.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Any suggestions for casing the kentucky...

Damn..smells like my smoker when smoking a rack of pork baby back....

The General Purpose casing was designed for the Halfzware or Euro Blend whole leaf blend. The Halfzware contains a large amount of Fire Cured leaf. The base flavors of the GP casing is vanilla and coffee.

So far I got 28 blends, I have not tried one yet. I will let them rest.
I still have some Baccy Left for some more unique blends.
These are KISS blends.

The air cured was good to blast on the burley...whereas it has excellent taste...i noticed what bt mentioned..it is a bit dry on the throat....after a while.

so i blasted some air cured casing on it to hydrate it a bit and it seems to work...

the air cured casing being choclate based accentuates the burley without changing its flavour

Kiss is, no offense. Keep it simple stupid. I am weighing in hundreds of a oz. on a very accurate scale.
You brought to my attention, WTF why did I not weigh the Casings on the scale. DA.

Ahhhh okay that makes sense.

I can get to .10 of a gram...

Good idea...imma reduce my blend weight to get more variations.
This is my first time trying izmir...it has an interesting sharp zing to it..ive been using prilep and its much more subtle..im still trying to wrap my head around the izmir...its a tricky flavour..almost like a mix of toothpaste and light menthol...?

I made one last night, mixed and let rest until this evening. Very nice, uncased full flavor. Working in 10gm batches here, will translate easily to percentage and each yields about 8 test smokes. with a scale that reads to .01.

5g flue
3g burley
1.5 Izmir
.5g fire

I also ran the fire cured twice through the shredder, first time yielded ribbons, that did not want to mix well. In hindsight, future leaf will be dried to much lower case and ran once. The double shredded blends well, but is a little to fine.

The double shred runs a bit fine..almost to a shake consistency.

stumbled across the double shred by accident.

had some thick cut hand shredded dark air leftover when the powermatic shredder came in.

I found that hitting a thick strand of dark air was not the best thing

So ran the leftover hand shred through powermatic.

found this allowed the dark air to blend more truely to 10% throughout the blend bc it was finer and mixed more thoroughly

In theory..if using only 10 percent and wanting 10% the only way to achieve that blend is to have that leaf shred at a smaller size so it mixes more thoroughly throughout the pile.

If it stays at the same shred size as the other leaves it is nearly impossible to get the dark air or kentucky to spread evenly to a true 10% ratio

At least thats what my head is processing which probably doesnt make sense to anyone else......

Spot on. Just shake/mix often, so the small stuff stays blended and does not settle to the bottom.

Don...after letting the blend posted sit overnight...the casing and bold flavours blended pretty nicely for a interesting yet fairly.mainstream flavour...the izmir is still popping a bit more than desired..so my update would be to throttle the izmir back to .3 grams...

You may wana givr it a try...if you do let me know what you think

After you come up with a blend or two or five that you think is something mainstream commercial cigarette smokers would enjoy, use the prepaid Flat Rate Box to send me a small sample. Also, please include the blend ingredients along with the quantities of everything in the blend.

I put my blends in the mail today. Tried my best to narrow it down to my favorites but ended up sending 6.
