Maybe a dumb question, but what is silver river used for, pipe, CIG, cigar? That is a nice plant.

The true classification of SR is a bit of a mystery. There is a whole thread about it here somewhere. Member Skychaser's business (Northwest Tobacco Seed) has it listed as a white stemmed Burley. Most will agree that it cures easily and takes minimal aging to be a good smoke exec by itself.

Someone here said there was a certain satisfaction in needing a stepladder to bag seed heads and they are right. Just never expected it to be for the Izmir.

i got me a lot of grass, to kill this winter,

The weed barrier was not wide enough to cover the width of the terrace sections. Was too cheap to buy enough to cover the gap. The soil is only a couple inches deep where the grass is. The baccy is in fill dirt/topsoil. This whole patch is on the side of a hill of red clay and rock. But I have no level ground in my yard so I made it work.

That crock pot has a long way to go. You blew me away this year. I'm glad for you, everyone needs a good first crop.

Nice looking plants.. What kind is that in the second photo?
Rick

Second pix front is silver river. By far my favorite looking grower and really like the first flue cured samples. The tallest are every bit of 7ft.

Thanks Bob. Did not even realize the post count.

Are you going to use the silver river in a gigarette blind? I was thinking of growing a few next year for the burley in my blind. Looks like a winner to me, and from the posts I have read about it it smokes good right after color cure. What do you think?

Have to add to the SR description. Gave a cig from it to a friend this morning, told him nothing of the variety just that it was my first cured; his first comment was "this is good is there menthol in it?"

I don't notice it but i normally smoke a strong menthol.f
