I grew both strains last year and can tell you they are clearly not the same.
The bad news is that the Criollo 98 did not grow well and was very impacted by diseases, the plants did not mature correctly and I have not smoked it yet, so I can't tell more.
But what I can tell you is that they have not the same leaf shape (Corojo is more large), the smell of the cured leaves is different too.
The plants do not have the same resistance against diseases too.
Now that I have changed my soil managment (I use more mulch and wood to cover the ground), I will try to grow Criollo 98 again to give it a real chance to give me some good leaves.
Corojo 99 gave me each time some good leaves suitable for wrapping, so I grow some regularly.
