I want to be sure to duplicate the same plants over and over
http://delstartech.thomasnet.com/vi...elnet/delnet-pollination-bags?&bc=100|3001152

This is a commercial bag and about $0.55 each by the 1000's. Shipping and tax would bring them to $0.65 or so.

that is cheaper and some government agencies use them as well.

Knucklehead's bag looks good and if I am not mistaken it can take a lot of abuse which it would not get in the field.

IF just keeping out insects is the goal it should work fine. If the goal is keep out pollen itself then something else should be used.

My reasoning is that if a group of commercial scientist/seed savers/tobacco growers use the ones in my link in this post and they cost only 6 bits, then thats what I want to use.

we just use the bags to keep insects out. tobacco pollen doesnt blow like that of corn, etc such that we assume no crossover between our rows. we routinely plant wildly different market types next to each other (like orientals next to burleys) and to my knowledge havent ever had problems with odd things turning up in the next generation.

Just noticing the fine print in the pics; even tobacco seeds now come with a "surgeon general's warning". LOL.

Burley Original is just a made up name. If you plan to save the seed, e-mail the company and try to find out the variety name, so you'll always know. The Tobacco Seed Co uses the name Burley Original for their TN90. Their Virginia Gold #1 is K326. Their Virginia Gold #2 and #3 are hybrids. If you bought a hybrid, saving seed would be a waste of time, as the hybrid would begin to revert back to one of it's parent strains. Pot luck. Some home growers wouldn't care one way or the other as they just buy new seed every year. But with your record keeping, I think you'll want to know the true variety name instead of a name just made up to sound more commercially attractive. Especially when you start sharing seed with newbie's.

Will definitely be interested in hearing more about this one. From what I have read, the "white stemmed" varieties are easier to color cure/dry and it sounds like a high yielder too.

wow- what an asshole move by the seed company to re-brand the seed like that. those cultivars were originally under plant variety protection (pvp), since expired, but i still dont see it as being ok to just call the cultivar something else.

damn dude, you must have strated those things, in december,

they truly are looking good, a positive example that you can grow in 5 gallon buckets, [ you should put that in your tag's ] in case someone searches 5 gallon buckets,

it's a sight, a lot of first time growers will see this year.. THIER FIRST CROP,
