damn,,, your gonna get 2 grows this year,

dude youve done it the way to do it, if your going for limited space yet mass production, [ im so far behind for my area ]

and im telling you,,, GET A SHREDDER, FROM DON. you'll never look at that pasta thing again,

and when your grown bacca runs out, order it from don or BIG-BONNER like i do.
but my man, that shredder is a MUST HAVE ...

p.s. let me know how that GLUCOMA grow goes,,,,

Most excellent!
My pics. suck. They to big or dont show up at all. The motor is an ice shaver with a peice of hose and a bolt ground down to fit in the shredder with hose clamp holden it on. One of the pics. next to it was a on off toe switch. I didnt run but about 10 lbs. through it. it workes well for what it was. The gears and rakes are the weak link.

Mine was binding and hard to turn. I took it apart and found nothing wrong but oiled the bushing opposite the gears and it quieted down and behaves . Maybe was a peice of something I didnt see that fell out too. The motor is crap tho. Works but it sounds like it wont hold up in mine. Maybe some cast babbet bearings on the shafts mite help. Or maybe even different gears as the shafts themselves seem ok.

Notes:

Mr FmGrowit mentioned in an article about sucker control to use a vegetable oil to control suckers. I was washing aphids off some pretty heavily infested plants when i noticed the water was almost all going down the stalk, hitting almost all the nodes on the way down. Also that any water that missed the stalk was caught by the big leaves and diverted to the stalk also. The result was almost all the water was going in the pot. I had often wondered how a mature tobacco plant would get water on its roots with all the leaves :) Seems nature has designed a pretty cool way of doing this.

Also I read on another site for the wacky tobacco that is full of nutrient problem solutions that can be applied to tobacco, that one grower reccomended not using grow bags with holes in them. But, he said, to make sure to allow to dry between watering. Keep in mind that container growing does not use ordinary garden soil but a medium that is designed for fast uptake and draining of water and maximum air circulation. You can get by with more water before you trend on the "wet feet" zone tobacco is noted for having.

Now I already have 400 bags bought so to save them and maybe help the water situation which currently is only 85 bags but an hour a day putting 1/2 gallon on them, I think I will try a small 4 gallon trash bag over the existing grow bag and maybe punch holes at 5" mark. When watering now I see a lot of the water going down sides of the grow bag and out bottom. This outer bag would allow this water to have time to re-enter the mix and capillary upwards thus saving time and water. Will post pics as soon as I get the outer bags.

Also when making new bags I will plant the seedling in a depression in the grow bag and leave a higher ring of soil around edge of bag to help stop some of the rundown down the sides of the bag when they dry out between watering.

mike have you ever seen a fload and drain system? your post reminds me of one..it has a lose clay ball medium. ..when it fulls with water and drains again it draws oxygen into the roots. .promoting fast growth..oxygen to the roots co2 to the top is the fastest you can make it go (with optimal feed programme also)

Dam.............

I had a pack of Marlboro Southern Cut left after I switched to RYO and ....... they just plain nasty :(

Perfumy smelling and tasting ... Is funny how one week of smoking whole leaf has changed my taste. Also noticed another thing. I am smoking way less as my seldom dumped desk ashtray can testify too.... Havent dumped it in 4 days and is still not full when normally I have to start another ashtray every 2 days or so.

Mr Jekylnz......... I have seen them and I think will be next project. I just got the float valves installed and want to see if the roots will go into the water like Bonners float tray roots. Letting it go dry half a day like I did before the float valves were put in caused them to die.

This is pic of the 4 gallon bag we put over the grow bag to try to conserve water and get more out of it as well: Next year if still container growing will use non-holed bags and make our own holes like 5" up the bag. Our mix is very easy to wet and drain so O2 wont be a problem I am sure.

On looking back at the grow bag results compared to the bucket system. the grow bags produced smaller plants. Both probably due to less water AND I increased the lime in the mix by almost 2x..... ANd runoff water in buckets was 7.5 to 7.9 ph so the bags were maybe over the limit for absorbsion of nutrients. Now with outer bag I may try to use vinager to drop ph and see if the plants green and grow better. Our water is like 7.2 ph as well.

You will have to watch in pots...that your nutrients dont get concentrated from water evaporation. .that can destroy them prtty qick if its hot??
Wouldnt u want soda to bring ph down
Usually nitric acid goes up potassium sulfate brings it down. .is that right??
Vinegar will be acidic wont it?? Usually your ph will keep getting acidic from crap breaking down and concentration of solutions

Acid is less than 7 ph and base or alkaline is 7 or higher so to lower ph you have to make acidier.
PH and acidity are not interchangable words.

Vinager is like 3.5 ph caustic soda is like 14 ph. It only takes a few ounces of vinager to 15 gallons to make a difference of 1 ph. I am not sure why the pot growers put so much emphasis on the run off water from their soil grows. WHat I would think is that the excess runoff would leach extra nutrients and be stronger than the soil in which it passed. But I do keep eye on gutters for anything over 7 anyway. Which is easy to happen when it rains and stuff is leached from buckets and is easy to spot as it will be colored by the peat and manure mix.

Mr Amax, I got a ph meter from blue lab that can be used in soil and is excellent in solutions. Soil readings are warned to be not as accurate. You are advised to make a standard solution with your soil which takes a while to get any degree of accuracy. There are alow meters that measure conductivity of solutions to tell what amount of nutrients are in them tho these will not tell what the solution is made of. There is also some meters than can tell you what n/p/k you have but I dont have that one.

De-ionized or distilled water will not carry an electrical charge and is used to calibrate the meters.

Yeah the tds (total dissolved solution) meters or we call them ppm (parts per million) meters come in handy for working out liquid feed..so you don't burn & kill them

Also usually with dak plants indoors the hot lights are all ways vaping off the water in turn increasing tds level(nutrient levels)..if theres not enough drainage in your plants, outside with alot of heat..the same could happen. Just thought it was on the same lines of what your saying and i thought it might be worth a mention..I not saying i think it would be an issue for you though. .as you've things sussed & got good drainage etc

Check out www.dripworks.com for container growing systems for drip to each container. It might be the way to go with the bags next year or if you do a second grow this year. You're spending alot of time at the water hose. They even have timers to make the whole watering deal automatic, or you can just cut the faucet on and come back later to cut it off. You can work on your boat and water plants at the same time. :)

I got the boat registered, the sales tax paid on the motor and it titled and get off work tommorow at noon. Already told them I am not working past noon. By 1300 I will be deep into a case of beer and skipping across the bay in search of some sort of marine victims for my iron skillet full of oil :)

One of my favorites. Dum fish tho. If 5 in school with a peice of frayed rope and a hook you got 5 on deck quicker than a cat can lick his tail.
Never thought I could eat a shark but I did one day. A fella cooked a mixed plate of ling and shark and added garlic which I dont think needs to be on fish and I disliked all the plate equally. So I guess I like shark :)
