I x-ray stuff for a living so inverse square law comes as a fact of life for me. I grew a plant indoors one time, and I took my four 48" t5s and made a pyramid above the plant so that the top where they met was about six inches away, and the bottoms were about a foot away. Worked well enough.
Yes thats a great way to do it!

The sun, being however zillion miles away, the distance to the plant will never get doubled or even 1/4 etc so the inverse law ends up being so minuscule that we dont consider it.
I might consider indoor growing of tobacco if I were stuck on Mars. Earth is 1.0 AU from the sun (by definition). Mars is 1.5 AU from the sun. Gonna be a tough job.

i thought id do a follow up on “cheap” led lights as last time i had just pruned my peppers. So i thought id show 1 month growth light running at about 50% 18hrs and using a hydroponic nutrients routine in soil

As you can see it is incorrect saying that cheap light will burn and kill your plants. I reiterate that poorly used light of any cost/style/wattage/brand will and understanding how your own light works is paramount. For example some early blurple lights used a lens to achieve the brightness rating. This would cause lots of issues for people who didn’t understand this and tried to use it like an hid replacement as it was like using a magnifying glass with the sun. However proper placement can still render this a useful light. See my tobacco seedlings for example56D8B585-ADDC-475F-B515-45F1804F6685.jpeg

Happy growing season everyone
