If your gauze is too open (too coarse), then use two or three layers, and it should work well as an insect barrier. I have primed plants that I bagged (sometimes leaving two or four leaves at the top of the stalk), and have not noted an impact on seed production or viability.

PA Red and Long Red are similar. PA Red offers a more intense aroma (though not quite up to Little Dutch intensity), while Long Red is a bit more subtle on the aroma, and is more productive.

I have grown "Brasil Dunkel" from http://www.tabakanbau.de/de/sitemap.php

"Dark brown, particularly aromatic Brazilian cigar tobacco with even burn. Brazil types are among the most versatile types of tobacco available: They are used as cigar fillers, binders and wrappers, as flavoring tobacco for pipe and cigarette cutting and as the basis for Bavarian snuff (Schmalzler). This variety harmonizes particularly well with other cigar tobacco."

I found it to be genetically impure. I don't think this is the same as Pergeu, since tabakanbau also lists Pergeu. What I grew appeared to include what appeared to be white-stem burley variants.

From 2014.

I seem to recall that it was all rather nice, with a full aroma as cigar filler.

I have 5-6 "pergeu brazil" plants, seeds bought years ago from Germany, the name makes you think of ... Brazil, but Poligon 55 says it was developed from "badischer geudertheimer". They are probably "brothers". this year I raise them both, side by side, I can't tell them apart.

First priming. CT Broadleaf, planted in June 26th, decided to prime instead of stalk cut. A lot of mud leaves due to heavy rains past week. I think that I'm not too early or to late and they are about right, there is slight yellowing, aligator skin and they snapped of the stalk quite easily.

I got my seed from polygon55. It was a very uniform and a robust grower and producer of heavy leaf. It matured early and produced lots of seed too, which made me happy. It would be a good choice for a short season location. I grew it at a different spot from my main crop which is why there are no bags on the plants in my picts. You guys just doubled what I knew about it from reading this thread. Thanks.

I have a few questions.
Photo number 1 - The flowers should drop off and i should wait for the buds to turn brown and dry of right? (CT Broadleaf)

Photo number 2,3 and 4 - blue spots on the first one, kind of strange yellowing on the second one and yellow spots pollen like on the third one. ( CT Broadleaf)

Photo number 5 - This should be Habano 2000 but it is kinda small compared to the ones i looked up online.

At this point in the season, I don't think it matters. The heavily damage leaves will likely be mostly holes after curing. If the whole plants look suitable for stalk-curing now, then you may as well stalk-cut them and hang them for curing.
