If I let one of my grandsons to trim the seedlings, he may cut them from the bottom. Very cute, she's just cutting the half of the leaf :)

Now that someone upstairs has started drinking again, I'm back in the game. I finally got enough rain to be worth the bother of planting. The seedlings are big, a couple varieties flowered in the starter trays! It will take me most of the week to get everything planted.

That's great news congratulations. I know the drought was killing you. My N. amplexicaulis is flowering too at about 6-8 inches tall. I guess I'll snip them and see if a sucker will grow.

N. ampexicaulis and Sacred Wyandot both flowered. If they all would have done this, my grow could have been done on a fold up table. The bud condoms would have looked pretty funny.

Whats planted?

All of the Turkish, The close spaced varieties are in a raised bed at the house. These are the 8" and 16" spacing varieties. Everything else to go in will be on 2' spacing.

This grow will be fun to tag along with, not that last year wasn't. For the Horn Worms add a Chicken and when topping is needed grab the BB topping machine, groom your own the grand girl might work.
That Texas dirt was wet (around the plants) -

No topping this year, just bud bags. Red Wasps did a great job of hornworm control last year, I'm going to let them eat for free again this year. We all know how the wet spots get there: )

HaHa intriguing, those spots are a mystery. I have heard tell the Red Wasp Thor leapt from the clouds with a mighty cry. Landed in your patch madly swinging his hammer, for every swing a green worm went splat. When he could find no more his wings went to buzzing and carried him to your porch, where he landed softly on the table next to ya...... With a grin he said, I'll have that beer now.

They do have a nasty sting and are usually aggressive. In the patch they seemed to have better things to do.

It's going to be one of those years! It's too thick to navigate and too thin to plow. You can just make out the Turkish near the top of the second picture.

That Sucks, at least you have your topsoil Left. Looks like the plants are OK?
Were suppose to get 4 To 5 inches on Friday again. This is starting to feel like last year.

I got my wish and then some! Before I go home tonight, I'll shovel (bail) a trench on either side of what I have planted.

The Sun called in sick today, everything still looks OK. The street (it's ditch) at the far end and the drive for the shop limited the water to what fell on the patch. For me, last year started out with just about the right amount of rain and then got dry until Fall.
