These are small trees, two rows, about 10 ft. tall with 10 ft. space between running east to west but no hills around. I was wondering also about the CT Broadleaf. Is stalk cutting a must or can i prime them too or pick all the leaves at once.

When I've grown CT Broadleaf, the greatest challenge was color-curing without small patches of green remaining. The green areas are the result of the lamina drying a bit too fast. Stalk cutting and stalk-curing slows the leaf drying. I've also hung primed leaf, and gotten reasonable results. The last time I grew CT Broadleaf, I primed the lowest leaf, as it fully matured, then stalk hung the rest, a little later in the season. Take my advice about CT Broadleaf with a degree of skepticism, since I've never produced what I would consider an excellent crop of CT Broadleaf.

Do chickens eat tobacco? :) The place I plan to raise my plants is open, no fence i mean and i have the kind of neighbors you wouldn't want if you were stuck in the north pole alone for 5 years. Anyway they have chickens and they roam freely where ever they feel like to including my yard. Anyway I was wondering if my transplants will be safe from them when i'll put them in the ground or should i buy a bbq?

Chickens eat tiny greens. They will peck at tiny transplants, but will be less likely to bother robust transplants with larger leaves (finger length). On larger plants, they may peck a few holes in the lower leaves while eating insects. So make sure the transplants are well developed, prior to putting them out, and just ignore the (often "V" shaped) holes in the trash leaf at the bottom of the stalk.

I've always had Chickens and they have never eaten my plants. They eat any bugs, but not tobacco, maybe if they have a nicotine habit they would. Ignore the Chickens they keep Slugs and Snails away, they like those.

Interesting. I think that if they are free ranging they get a good feed. I have around 1 acre on my section plus the neighbors paddocks, more than enough to keep them happy. I always feed them at night at their house, when I tuck them in. I have Silver Beet, I can't remember what you guys call it, but I plant it in among my baccy and they don't eat it. They eat the Slugs and Snails off it but not the greens. My 10c worth.
