Thanks PO - I can kind of understand Swedish ... I have watched so many episodes of Wallander in Swedish that I think I know the language now - although the only words I know are swearing and talking about murders!

A far prouder history of growing tobacco exists in Sweden ... the only time fields of tobacco were grown in England legally was in the year 1600! It was made illegal very quickly - not for health reasons ... just because the British colonies in the USA were producing tobacco for the merchants and they didn't want every farmer selling their own grown stuff.

This article is very interesting though, showing that illegal growing happened in a part of Gloucestershire very close to my county right up until the 1900s. http://www.brh.org.uk/articles/tobacco.html - growing is no longer illegal in the UK.

Now you're posting salads? Is it always food with you?

Hint: the best salad dressing is Miracle Whip mixed with ketchup. Try it.

I am of the same opinion as you Squeez but there are other one's bigger than these , they are on the stalk curing and I can't take them off to show , I'll try to think of something
Used 250-300 Liters of urea this season in my waterbarrels and that could be a very good reason to their size.

One of the most loved dishes over here in Sweden would absolutely be fried flaesk with onionsauce.
Its easy to make , start by preparing the sauce.Chop down a few onions ( 2-3) and fry'em in a pan

When done , move them over to a saucepan and fling over some salt ( gutfeeling) and stir a bit

Take a heaped spoonful of flour over that fried onions and stir a bit

Finally , add milk to the whole thing and use your gutfeeling on how much to use and stir again

Boil potatoes and fry that flaesk ( slices of pork ) and voila !

If all goes well it looks like this when you're done .....

From one thing to another , you think one could use a fridge or a freezer as a Airconditioner having the door open ?
Electricity is in included in my rent.
One could perhaps have either one up on a table or somethin since coolness is goin downwards while heat goes skywards.

.

No you cannot. If electricity is included in your rent you should build a GIGANTIC flue curing chamber.

I did some reading on the GC-1. It's a first generation improved tobacco that was made to give bigger yields, about 2700kg/ha when planted at 60x45cm. It was made for chewing tobacco by bidi tobacco research station in Anand back in the early 80's. It is still the best variety for the Gujarat region which I think is a sandy soil. They did trials and found 200kg/ha nitrogen of which 90 is basal and should be top dressed at 20kg/ha at 15 days, then 30kg/ha at days 30, 50 and 70.

Their latest improved variety is gct-3 released in 2001, they got the yield up to almost 6000kg/ha when spaced and fed the same as the above. Although like I said that is for a different region, gc1 still is recommended for some regions as being the best performer. I don't understand the regional differences or if it's even obtainable but it gives us a goal for what seed to obtain for next year.

This is rustica with YIELD baby :)

Oh and eta, gc-1 stands for Gujarat Calcutti 1. Between our 2 countries we should be able to obtain somewhere.

Looks like the north region is more like mine. Dark soil with more clay for water retention. Now to try harder locating seed. Apparently it's a similar plant habit, but 2-3 times the number of leaf, and taller.

Here's to you Squeezjohn , think this is the best I can do , 22,5 '' on the Wide side X 23 '' the Long side on the leaf to your left.

They're all from that old sort of backer that was found on a burial site
