With the start of the 3rd Lockdown in November, they told us that the Cafes will open in a month, then they told will go for January, then due to cases of the virus etc, they told us in February. Then they changed it again and said March while now they say they will finally open it in April. They they are making fun of us but Okay you @ #%^ ers we will wait as long as it takes even until sun rises from the West, you can not have us locked inside for life.
When the Cafes open, guess who will be the first customer, who will drink a double Greek coffee and smoke 2 bowls of pipe and play his Kompoloi with rage?

Yesterday I smoked a bowl of a plug I made 4 years ago, and it was delicious.
The plug was made from the top leaves of the Cherry Red plants I grew in my first crop (bright leaf, but air cured), I am really happy with the result.

I smoked the last of of my Kendall Kentucky today, in my favourite pipe, a Ropp bulldog with a horn stem. Also today, I recieved email notifications for a bunch of Gawith and Hogarth tobaccos that are back in stock. I have four and a half pounds coming my way, in nine seperate 8 oz parcels. I'm playing cat and mouse with Canada customs... It's all getting shipped out on the same day, so I am concerned that I might really get dinged with duty. But USPS is operating with one arm tied behind its back, and so maybe the packages will come through in dribs and drabs. Damn the torpedoes.

I cavendished some of that Best of the Rest English (I was nearing the end of the pound I bought and you play with the tobacco you have, not the tobacco you wish you had) and cased it with vanilla maple syrup and Woodford. It's not too bad. The latakia is still the primary flavor but it's more muted and the sweetness of the casing comes through more. I'm eagerly anticipating having my own homegrown to play with.

I'm going to try this. I call it pile cured but it's really neglect cured. There were a few leaves that took so long to yellow that I just forgot about them under a blue recycle bag in the garage. I found them dried without mold, mostly brown. So then I kilned them, pressed them, vacuum sealed them, and let it sit for some weeks. Now I'm going to compare pile cured to air cured.

I see, Viqueque, Timorise stuff. I had read it on the tag before I asked, but thought for no reason that the name was a random doodle.

I searched, found, and read your grow blog for 2020. And I only came across your having tasted the lugs of the viqueque. I am curious to know how you found the tobacco, to smoke. Also, WOW, that fire cured you made, sure looks great. This is a good segway into- I am enjoying a bowl of Kendall Dark (chock full of Malawi dark fired) in one of my two identical Ruby sandblasted Ropp bulldogs. It's funny, I was online looking at pipes earlier, and ran across the Ropp bulldogs. The first thing I thought was that I ought to buy up the three I saw in stock at the vendors website.

I had never heard of Happy Brown Bogy. I looked it up:

Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. - Happy (Brown) Bogie Unsliced​

This is a dark fired and dark air cured twist. Also known as Happy Bogie. An old fashioned rope tobacco that provides a stout smoke with high nicotine content.​

All our twist tobacco varieties are manufactured by the same spinning process using dark fired wrapper leaves. The filler is again, predominantly dark fired leaf with the addition of a small percentage of dark air cured Indian leaf. They are therefore strong tobaccos.​

Notes: This Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. dark fired and dark air cured twist is also known as Happy Bogie. This brown twist is a bit stronger than the black twist and is made to slice into coins for smoking, or small plugs for chewing - as done by many sailors.​

I smoked a bowl, kinda wet. I found it very pleasant. I will get a better read on the flavour with tomorrow morning's pipe full. I'll dry it a bit, and pack it carefully. The strength makes you sit up and take notice.

I have been wondering what WLT dark fired and dark air cured taste like together. I'll have order some and find out.
I have a ton (2 1/2 pounds) delivered today, 2 more pounds coming soon, of a few different Gawith and Hoggarth tobaccos. They're all somewhat moist. I expect i can freeze them without any harm. Is that right?
I suppose I could dry them out too. But straight into the freezer is simpler.
