I'm glad you managed to get a crop this year. It wasn't looking good there for awhile. I think my patch may end doing something after all also. I may only get half what I was expecting, but it's better than a kick in a teeth. Way to hang in there bud.

THE BAT HOUSE....

you know me and you have had many talks about the hornworm,,,, weve even killed one toghter, while i had a beer in my hand,:)

....next year i'll be growing in a totally different area, LESS AGRICULTURE, than where, im at now, so i may not have a extensive hornworm problem as i ve had in the last 2 years,,,

i kept up on them, but sometimes with the job... im only home to slleep and eat '' literally'' i lack sometimes in my spraying, but make up in it, on my days off,

but i definatlly want a bathouse at my property....

im all in on building that thing in the future,

do i need to keep my eye out for '' old plywood '' /

yes, at least 3 sheets to do it right. Then you need about 10 eight foot 1x2x8' pt . That will build a condo that the females will come to, and we all know where the women are that's where we are.

How did you start out with your bat houses? Did you buy blueprints, buy a house to copy or just make up your own? Where can we get plans for one? I'd like to build a few myself.

Not quite what it started out to be. I got most of the Zimmer Spanish hung yesterday. The rest is still in the patch catching up. Next should be the VA Gold. The ZS sucker crop is a foot tall already, so I had to get the whole stalk out the way. I'm counting on that sucker crop to be better than the main crop, but after yesterday's 4" I'm not so sure. Each time it starts to dry out for a day or so we get slammed with more rain. How can I expect anything to grow!

Do you grow enough to get you through a whole year? How much do you grow? I'm trying to figure out how many I need to plant next spring. I only have 8 common burley's this year and had a late start on that. I can" wait to get a good crop, I have fell in love with growing tobacco. I always plant a nice garden about 75' X 75' each year.
