If you've got plants that grow a foot in 1 night, I will pay some good money for those ;)

There's also a disease that causes the thin neck in a plant.
It happens sometimes to my tomatoes, broccoli and zucchini in the garden. The neck of the young plant near the ground is thin and then the plant dies. Some fungus is responsible.

That's called "damping off" and generally happens when young seedlings are in cold conditions and too moist. Sometimes over-watering can cause this on it's own. Cinnamon sprinkled on the compost is very good at countering the fungus that causes it.

I've never had it in tobacco - but have seen a lot of it in things like cucumbers - it's really depressing, they just die when they're perfectly healthy looking!

They're looking good right now. I gave the bigger ones a hair cut and have begun turning the light off at night. First night with light off they really jumped up. It's rainy and cloudy here now for the next couple days, but will have good sun this weekend. I'm going to move the float beds outside for some sun and cover them with plastic at night. Should be good to go. We're cooking with peanut oil as we say.

Knucks, I'll post later on my blog what happened with my grow after I trimmed. Apparently it aided an extra oomph to growing (my plants are getting a bit too big)

Hi Knucks - don't worry ... I think with bottom watering systems damping off is very rare. It normally comes when people top water and leave the plants with far too wet soil for a long time - particularly when it's in colder temperatures.

Yours look past the stage for getting it too.

Cloudy and rainy today, mostly sunny tomorrow and the next several days. Will it be better to move the trays outside today while it's cloudy?

I've been moving the trays in and out the past 3 days. Today I moved the swimming pools out with the trays. outside float trays.jpg I plowed up another patch today. Going for some of Chicken's bigger and better. Leverhead may have beat me to transplant, but I have much better dirt and will be catching up soon. :) new patch.jpgnew patch 2.jpg

I have learned to enjoy bullshit. As long as I can turn it under before the smell ruins the taste of my beer. I drink the beast so I can let it set for a spell.

Going to switch over to the rock rake, hopefully tomorrow and pull the rocks and grass clumps out. If I catch the moisture right, it'll roll the dirt right out of the grass roots and leave nothing but clean smooth top soil.
