I'll get you a picture of the rocks. They are the real pretty "mountain rock". I drug up enough to do one heck of a nice BBQ pit. The slope isn't as steep as it looks, it's pretty flat, I had the 4 wheeler parked on a 5 ft. tall bank looking down on the plot.

if you build the bbq pit I will bring steaks and help you with the bacca patch. (cold beer reqired). lol.

I already have a fire pit and park style grill. Bring them on. I'll have the beer on ice. Do you like Corona?

Rope it off. And talk to Im I bet they will work around it. The few of that I know are realy nice ppl.

I'm just going to stay where I am for the next couple to three years and then rotate into the other patches. It's supposed to be good to rotate tobacco around some to cut down on disease and let the soil recover with other crops.

What kinda rocks yall got thir? pic. I love big rocks. We dont have any rocks here. you have to buy them and they cost a lot.
Bring your truck up to New England. Johnlee and I grow all the rocks you'll need. Every spring more get pushed up. It's a pain if you're trying to grow anything. In the old days farmers here made fences out of them. If you go out in the woods you'll find 200 year old stone fences where there used to be farms.

We've got the same here in Michigan, most centennial farms have old stone walls, the farmers would use them for fences as well as the undertakers for their cemeteries.

Yesterday I put down two 100' rolls of landscape cloth and two 100' drip lines. I'll be planting as soon as this rain stops.

While researching my VA Gold K236 I ran across an interesting experiment on increasing the sweet taste and aroma of flue cured Virginia type Tobaccos: http://www.medical-res-papers.com/pathology/24102
Wallace,
I find that article only marginally intelligible. I suspect that it was translated from Chinese to English by a non-English speaker. Even more curious is that it is posted in a medical research site, and under the category of "pathology"--the study of disease.

Summary: They sprayed the spores of two different fungi onto (?)growing tobacco, then concluded that the enzymes from the fungi seemed to cause the finished tobacco to smell sweeter, according to expert tobacco tasters. They predict a "promising future" for the use of fungi on tobacco.

Interesting, though bizarre.

I am officially a tobacco farmer!! I planted 50 Virginia K236 in the ground this morning. I plan to do 20 BSS- Maden this evening. Hopefully (if I can move) 50 TN90 tomorrow morning and 20 Izmir tomorrow evening. Then it is supposed to rain the next day. BigB, if my plants wash away, watch out for my e-mail. lol

Oh, BTW, the sharp end of a mason's hammer makes an absolutely excellent seedling hole digger. I was digging right beside my drip line and didn't hit the line a single time. Very accurate tool and great for digging out rocks.

Congratulations! Now you just have to resist the temptation to check on them every two hours.

Thank you! I did follow through and plant the Maden, and checked the drip line emitters. All systems go.

I'll post pics tomorrow. All of my seedlings have been outside for a couple weeks. I'm about to start my hornworm crop inside. I sure hope I can fool them into going after the decoys!

Just plant some tomatoes nearby. They lived mine last year.
