Florida Sumatra is from 2013 and burn surprisingly well. I wish I had more. Thats why I decide I will grow more plants of the same variety like Corojo this year.
Next year maybe Florida Sumatra. The key is in aging but you need to have enough leaf to test it in between.

I am sitting on the porch right now having a Victor Sinclair vintage select in a 6.5 x 54 size. I know most would probly wonder why I would smoke that since most of their blends are garbage. Well, I got a super awesome deal on a mixpack and this was in it. I have to say, this cigar is blowing me away. Specifically, the taste and feel of the wrapper. The description says is is a brazilian maduro wrapper. I wonder if its mata fina? Either way, its one of the best I have had in a while.

This is why there are a lot of cigars makers. What is good for me maybe is not good for you but the magic is if you are having a good time and enjoy yours just relax and have fun!

Most people's taste buds change over time, and so do cravings for certain flavors. Also, specific years and region that Tobacco is grown can vary in flavor every year. Then there's weather, drought cycles, etc.... and the list goes on. If you like what you're smoking, you like it! That's what counts, NOT what some cigar snob says in a foreign chat room being paid to push cigar products he's stuck with to sell.

Luckily, that's the beauty of this forum, and the good folks of FTT and WLT! They bring in various flavors.

Back to topic: I had a fantastic cigar today, and for some reason today, it was just right for me. A combo of Dominican Seco wrapper/binder/filler with 3 leaves Criollo Viso and 1 leaf Nic. Habano Viso. I'd like to slap some different wrappers on this blend and upgrade with Criollo in the mix, so we'll see if it's right for me in this season.

Got home last night after finding out right before clocking out that the good news is I have a nice 3 1/2 day weekend ahead of me , the bad news I was rudely made aware that I am again thrown onto a nights shift starting Tuesday for the upcoming outage at the refinery I'm at. So , in order to cheer me up , my wife made dinner and had a cocktail ready for me as I hit the door. After dinner she suggested more of the attitude adjustment of another glass , grab myself a cigar and head to the front porch to unwind and think good thoughts. What I grabbed out of my humi was one of my early white label Smokin' Harley custom blends courtesy of members and WLT. USUALLY i write the blend on the inside of the band ....yeah , USUALLY...this one was blank... All I know is that it was a 6 x 54 torpedo and I wrapped it in Nicaraguan seco that was clean enough for wrapper and was laid on very well I might add as a pat my own back.
I have to chuckle and be disappointed in myself at the same time...some of my best blends are usually anonymous.

My breakfast cigar this morning:
  • 1 (gigantic) leaf of Swarr-Hibshman
  • 1 leaf of Nicaraguan Habano viso (WLT)
  • double Sumatra binder (WLT)
  • CT Shade wrapper (WLT)
Rolled to 6.5" x 48, and smoked on my front porch mere moments after rolling. This was accompanied by a 14 oz. mug of Mexican espresso with milk and sweetener.

Clear skies at sunrise, chilly air, chirping birds, fox kit returning to its den from a night of carousing. A cat bird (blue-gray, with a black cap and a rusty butt) landed nearby on the porch, and inspected me for about 30 seconds as I spoke to it.

Time to replenish the water in my kiln.

Well I'll be darned. I pulled the band off the Smokin Harley Secret Special that I've been nursing along for a couple of days and sure enough there was the blend on the back side of the band. It wasn't so secret after all .. Mata Fina, Nic. Habano, Piloto Cubana, Red Tip Burley and Oscuro. A very fine cigar.

Damn, Ken, you do like 'em plump, dontcha?

Me, I haven't smoked a thing since Monday, when we went to visit La Cabana Birage in Birdsboro. Had a wisdom tooth yanked so had to abstain to avoid dry socket. In the last week I've rolled eight and smoked none, while receiving 36 by mail and 10 from Birage. Mathematically... well, I better get busy, is all.

Gotta love that picture of the custom nub. You know you hit it right when you smoked it down that short and the burn line is still straight.

Thanks! I do like them plump, but I won't reject a petite one either! About a couple months ago, I was on the same boat as you. I had a wisdom tooth and the tooth next to it pulled in the same day. I gave myself a full month of healing before I lit one up again. But it was totally worth the wait! When you heal, enjoy them cigars you rolled and the ones you received in!

Well, the dentist told me 72 hours; not a month. I'll prolly cheat.

Next time someone sends me a mandingo jawbreaker, I'll try and remember to relay it to you.

Kenneumann, I to like the fatties. I also like your choice of beverage your having with your cigar.
I like something a little sweet like the old time rootbeer with a smoke now and then.
