Getting close to the end now. Today I harvested my 5 Björkö Burley (unknown variety) and 6 Prilep.
80 days since transplanting, 17 days after topping of Björkö Burley and 9 days after topping of Prilep.
Both varieties showed very fine signs of maturity, yellowing leaves even high up on the plants.
Now only 38 PY KY171 and 2 KY171 left, but it will take a few weeks, so now I have time to take care of everything that harvested.

Today I harvested my 38 Virginia Bright Leaf
79 days since transplanting, 17 days since topping. 18 leaves, height to crow's foot and topped, 140 cm (55 in), blade length, (10th blade), 81 cm (31 in), blade width 51 cm (20 in). All plants showed fine signs of maturity, even the upper leaves. I let them hang out for a few days when sunny and warm weather is expected.

I thought your shed was impressive, but that sun cure arrangement makes it outstanding. Good job my friend. If there was a hammock out there I would never go in the house!

Now only two varieties left to harvest, 38 PY KY171 and 2 KY171. Went crazy with all the weeds today, so cleared it and drove a couple of laps with the cultivator, and now it's easier to keep clean the weeks that are left until harvest. The last picture is the 2 PY KY171 (on the left) and 2 KY171 (on the right) that I am doing a comparison on. Transplanted the same day, May 25, so today 81 days since transplanting.

Plants are looking great! Those are some thick stems. Do you have a particular snus you are planning on replicating with these?

Thanks. I think that most different types of tobacco make good snus. especially once you have flavored it with the aromas you want. I am therefore trying to find some varieties that give a very high yield, and which are easy to grow, in order to reduce the number of plants. Tofta may not give a very high yield (although I think this year's yield will be very good), but gives a good snus. However, the other varieties I have many of this year, PY KY171 and Virginia Bright Leaf give much higher yields. Later this year I will come up with exact yields on these three varieties. Last year KY171 gave 163g (5.75oz)/plant and Virginia Bright Leaf 135g (4.76oz)/plant. In addition, both PY KY171 and KY171 have a much higher nicotine content. I am hoping for an average yield on these three varieties of at least 150g (5.29oz)/plant.

PY KY171, today 85 days since transplanting and 23 days since topping. Now the leaves are really starting to turn yellow, become marbled and dented (even the upper ones). The leaves are really thick, heavy and "meaty". Maybe harvest in about 2-3 weeks, (about 100-110 days after transplanting)

Virginia Bright Leaf, change in one week.
At harvest August 11, August 15 and today August 18.
High humidity on evening, night and early morning over 90%, significantly lower during the day in sunny weather, running constant with circulation fan right now.

PY KY171 - 90 days after transplanting

Today 90 days since transplanting and 28 days since topping.
All plants/leaves are now starting to turn yellow and the leaves are starting to become dented.
According to information, they should be ripe for harvest 4-5 weeks after topping, which seems to be right as today is exactly 4 weeks.
Will probably harvest them in the next week, but want to wait and see how further signs of ripeness will show.

Interesting to see how even the plants are both in height and width and they consistently have massive and heavy leaves.
It will be very exciting to see the yield on these.

In the last picture, there are 2 PY KY171 on the left and 2 "regular" KY171 on the right, and all these plants have developed similarly, except that the PY plants have started to turn yellow, which is the point. But today I can see clear signs of maturity even on the "regular" KY171, with dented leaves, a little yellow and "burnt" in the leaf tips.

Now I have almost removed all the leaves from my Tofta plants. After I remove them, I first put them in a pile, where they can continue to color cure, when they turn even more brown, I put them in the next pile, and when they are completely brown, I put them on a drying table. All the piles are on mesh tables so the air can gets in from below.

So far, I control the humidity in the room to about 70-75%, when it comes time to finally dry, I make sure that it ends up at around 40-45%

96 days since transplanting, 5 weeks since topping (34 days).

Today I harvested my PY KY171, (31 left after the storm). Remaining 2 PY KY171 and 2 regular KY171 that may stay for a while longer, interested to see how they develop with more time. Very clear signs of maturity on the leaves, yellow shimmering and dented. Letting the plants hang out for about a week, despite rain for a couple of days, which is then followed by sun and heat again.

102 days since transplanting and almost 6 weeks (40 days) since topping.

Harvested today my last plants, two PY KY171 and two "regular" KY171, the varieties I compared this year.
Large, very heavy plants with "fleshy" and heavy leaves. Don't really see any difference between these two varieties other than the PY variant turning much more yellow when the leaves are ripe. But even on the regular KY171, the leaves become a bit yellow and dented, so if you only know that KY171 is a late variety and what signs it shows at maturity, it is also an interesting variety, and not so difficult to grow. Will now also compare these when they color-cure next to each other.
