That's a good screen. Do you plant them from seed?

yep; start from seed, each plant throws many pods, about 2 '' round, each pod has 4 seeds in it, the seeds are the size of your thumbnail

from my porch i cant see the road,,,,,,,,,,,from the road they cant see me, THE WAY I LIKE IT,

and they are damn near matience free,,,,, if the wind blows them over, thats fine,
the plant will continue to grow upwards, even more concealing the gaps,

i fertilize the hell out of mine, with different mixes as the plant progresses,,,,, just 2 weeks ago i shot a 100% pure potash dose to them, along with some milorganite, and magnesium,

ive grew from original seeds, i first aqquired in 95'

i was in the patch last night, with a flashlight... looking for signs of dead worms [ i sprayed saturday ]

dead worms i seen,,,,,some live ones i seen and dispatched them,

then a huge hornworm moth, came in the area.

i swatted at him.. MISSED. swatted again ,, missed,,, got off balance for the 3'rd swipe,,,spilled my beer,

swatted him to the ground and came down on top of him with my fist...

i got dirty yes, but it was very satisfying.

i brought his corpse in and fed it to my turtles/crawdads.......

this morning there was no sign of him in the tank.

Get the lumber and I'll help you build a bat box. It's a lot cleaner, and more fun to watch a bat fly in at about 60mph and snatch the same moth out the air.

Chicken, There are few thing more satisfying then being able to be a pests terminator. For me, just after planting I'll be out there once at 11pm then 2 am with my mag light and slug skewer. Slugs, caterpillars, earwigs, and anything I veiw as a threat to my baccy gets terminated. then after a couple of passes through the patch, I'm done and head inside but not before looking over the garden and saying in a thick german voice "I'll be Back"

I'm curios how they would like the hornworm, I hear they make lousy fish bait. At least the ones from a baccy patch.

the patch, is looking good, i been doing some lower leaf picking,,,

im trying a different drying method this year,, '' enclosed with air flow and heat moderated'' vs hanging them in the shed, with a breeze,

i put 6 strings in the shed and they dried way too fast,,,

vs.. the ones i got in the kiln,

if the kiln becomes full . ill throw the door open and use the whole camper as a drying area,

after last years mold, and all the rain so far this year; i was wise to plan ahead,

pic's after my camera charges a little<

well i got half the kiln filled,

and realized the best way to layer the leaves/hanger for the best curing possibilities,

i may go back in there, and re-do the very first strings, that are against the far wall... my radiator heater, comes on at night, and the fan regulates 24/7

so far im using the natural moisture, to keep the humidity at good levels, but as the leaves dry i will be adding a crock-pot, for humidity,

Your gonna get her filled up chicken I'm liking this it shows there are many ways to cure a leaf.

ive found the way i do it, to be very effective, and you can get a lot of leaf, in a little bit of space, having the bulk of the strand hang straight down

Man Chicken, I just sent Don a PM less than a week ago, asking him if green leaf could be shipped because I didn't think I would have the room for this years grow after the 3rd priming, and this is the ticket.
I only wish I would of done it this way from the start but I'll redo everything if need be.
Had tunnel vision, thinking hanging from ceiling, worked last year, X2 the plants this year.
Didn't really like the idea of having to give away my leaf, but do what I had to, not to let it go to waste.
Sigh of relief man.
Their hung like this now, wasting a lot of space.

Lookin good brother. You got to come by and check out what I have hanging in the barn. I'm very surprised at what I got out of the patch with all the rain we had.
