If y'all have a Lowe's near by it's kept on the shelf next to the neem oil. It's been in the same place at every one. I like it because you can use it up to the day of harvest on veggies.
I found mine at the county Farmer's Co-op. There's one in Piedmont if you can't find one in your town. Its made by Hi-Yield. I think the name is in my Grow Book somewhere. lol

I'm seeing some little grasshoppers on my plants now. The BT doesn't bother them. What is recommended for the hoppers?

You have several options. You can buy grasshopper poison which will definitely kill them but if you want to go organic you'll need to get Semaspore aka Nolobait. It is a grasshopper virus that is bound to bran (for bait). You broadcast it around, the little buggers will eat it and die. The dead critters will then be cannibalized by their older brothers and sisters and they too will die. In theory it works great but in reality it leaves a lot to be desired. You have to apply it at the correct time, when the grasshoppers are in their 1st Instar ( very itty bitty things) and if rain comes you have to reapply it.... and it's expensive and does not store for more than a couple of weeks. It's what I use but I have chickens that roam around and cannot afford for them to eat poison. It cuts my hopper population down quite a bit but not completely. I still have hoppers and they chew on the tobacco leaves but I've been able to keep them in check so that I get no real damage from them, just a few leaves per 100 plants.

Thanks hopper man, these are little tiny ones about half an inch long. I'll give Semaspore aka Nolobait a try. The Beast's Chihuahua eats about as many grasshoppers as your chickens do, but he can't keep up with them down at the patch. We had to take him to the vet the other day because he took a mouse away from the cat and was very sick for 3 days. Poor little feller. He's a hog.

Received my seedlings from BigBonner today. I ordered 25- Smyrna #9, 10- TN90 Burley, 5- Lonnie's Havana, 5- Dominican Olor, and 5- Jalapa. I'm going to plant all I can this evening and finish up tomorrow evening if I don't finish today. Something bit me on the forearm while I was reaching for my mattock and my shoulder already feels numb. It might have been a spider, I never saw it but the tiny hole bled like crazy for a while. I hope I get some planting done. I'll be buying all my production plants from Larry next year. Larry's Seedlings.jpg

Well here comes a thunderstorm, I'll have to wait and see about planting. If it moves out, at least I won't have to haul water down there. :)

After 5 days of remaining in their original shipping materials, my BB seedling extras look almost the same as when they arrived. If you need to hold them, they will be fine.

Starts look good Man I hope it wasn't a spider those bites can be nasty, am sure you'll be keeping a eye on it.
I'll keep an eye on it. The numbness is gone, but my shoulder and elbow are aching. Could be the weather though, these thunderstorms cause me all kind of aches.

Thanks for the info Bob, I decided to try the Jalapa and Olor after reading your reviews in your 2012 Grow Blog.

Burley and Smyrna were planted this evening. The thunderstorm went around me, so I had to haul water anyway. I'll plant the cigar varieties tomorrow and get some pictures. BigBonners seedlings are really strong. Awesome roots and stems.

Howdy!

Hows the arm feelin? Do you have brown recluse down you're way? We've been killing them almost left and right in the last couple of days. Haven't seen too many black widows yet. Both will put a damper on you're dance plans for a day or two. Lookin' forward to some pics.

How's the spider bite today ? My friend got bit in the abdomen by a black widow and 4 days later he had redness, swelling, and red lines going down his legs. When I finally got him to go to the hospital he had blood poisoning and had a tallboy beer can size piece of meat removed from just below his bellybutton, so please keep watch on it and treat it serious.

Boboro , did you really have to add bed to the list of places ? I'm going to be freaking out every night now! I already check my shoes. I wont wear clothes that have been left in the barn over night until they been washed in hot water, now I'm gonna dream wild dreams. LOL

I don't know what it was, I didn't see what bit me. Yesterday the whole arm ached and there were red bumps around the puncture, but today everything is fine. It could have been psychosomatic or something, I read up on spiders and talked myself into being ill. lol.
