I wouldn't smoke something like that. If you have enough leaves, pick the good ones.
My production has also problems as you know, so i would keep for smoking a 70% of the leaves (perhaps less).
After all, we grow tobacco for pleasure and for quality product.;)

Because I grow for cigar wrapper the "Look" of the leaf is important. If you're growing for cigs or a pipe your needs are different. Don't be too harsh on yourself. Leaf that doesn't look perfect may smoke very well. Do your best at curing and try leaf before discarding it.

I have some ten foot 2x4's to build a cure rack. It will be 5'wide, 5' tall and 10' long. Two levels. First level 3'from the floor, next level 2' above that. It will be alot like BarG's rack except it will be self supporting with four posts. I'll have to cut a few 2x4's in half for the 5' stuff but I think I can built it in about an hour or so start to finish. It will use 5' stringing sticks. I have several 1x2 scraps I just need to cut to 5' lengths. I'm holding off till the last minute to save shop space.

I'm not talking only about beauty John, its the health danger first. I wouldn't smoke a leaf that has strange-unknown marks on it!
The same as if the leaf has green spots, mold or rot. I cure everything though, and after kilning i will make the choise.

I don't know if crud from Poplar trees is toxic or not, or whether or not it will affect the flavor. I may just cure it and trade it to Amax and DGBAMA for some good flue cure. lol

I installed a heater last week, so I'll be good as the temps go down. Humidity is already getting lower.

The difference between the men and the boys is the size of their bacca toys. I'm heading over to DGBAMA's today with the Powermatic for a shredding demo and I'm going to check out his flue curing chamber. I want to build a flue chamber this winter for next year and to use as a kiln during the off season. We're going to play with our bacca toys and cook some fine Southern cuisine and watch some SEC football. I'm excited. I'm taking some cigars, cigarettes, pipes and tobacco samples. Bama's cooking some bbq and stuff on the grill and my wife put together some side dishes. Eat, drink and be merry. The first annual Bama Bacca Bash begins today. Roll Tide.
