I don't think I had a horn worm at all last year, just bud worms and aphids. This year I spray every 6 days, so maybe i'll keep em from ever getting started.
Aphids don't eat much less you grow packs of em watch for those Horn Worms

That would be intresting. Aphids suck on the sap of plants and ooze honeydew as a result. the sugars of the plant under go an enzymnic effect not much different from bees turning nectar into honey. So basically, honey dew from aphids on a baccy plant covers the plant with it's own sweetness. This year I seen a cedar hedge that the bees were in love with, the cedars were all covered with honeydew of the likes that i've never seen before.

Have you tasted any of that honey? Does it have a distinctive cedar flavor/aroma?

It is very dark and strong tasting honey and fetches a premium price. I personally don't like the taste of it and I should mention that honeydew honey is not the same flavour as honeydew before the bees mixed their enzymns with it (I licked the cedar branch to taste the raw honeydew, that was pleasant). Honeydew honey is really rich in minerals and because of that it is actually not good for bees to overwinter on, They will get the screaming poops then die (experience talking there).

So you sell the stuff at a premium and protect the bees at the same time? Will bees winter over on any honey at all?

Oh yeah, fireweed is the best but any honey (other than honeydew honey, heather honey, buckwheat honey) will do. Flora honey is better then cane sugar converted into honey for wintering but feeding syrup is better then the bad honey afore mentioned. We only feed if the bees are light or if we have to take away the honeydew honey (which is usually at the end of the season)

Here it's gallberry honey. Where I lived before the bees made honey year around, because there is always something blooming in SW. Fla. But the absolute best is when the orange groves are in full bloom and the honey run is on. I split my hive in two, after the purchase of a new queen, and theft of 3 brood racks from the original. By the end of the orange blossom honey run they were both strong with 4 supers on top. After that it was hard to keep up with them, so I ended up giving them to a science station called Plantation Botanicals in Felda Fla. Now im told they are put to use in the medicinal cure world. Those people had a bug and spider room that would make your skin crawl.
