Great start to the weekend here! Saw Willie Nelson & Family in Madison, WI last night. Now lake house until Monday morning. Getting ready to fire up the grill & first try of the TitoRita blend I put together a couple weeks ago. Looking like it may be a 2 or perhaps 3 stick day! Have a great weekend everyone!

So don’t leave us in suspense, what was the blend?
I call it "Bootleg Bill" in honor of my late father these 6x52ish torpedoes were rolled on the 10th anniversary of his passing, 5-20-23.
W- Habano 92 from WLT (great to work with)
Binder- Dominican Olor- WLT
Fillers- Esteli Ligero- 1.5
Esteli Seco- 1
Pilot Cubano Ligero- 1
Funny because I thought to myself beforehand maybe I'm over complicating the blends so I threw together what seemed to be a pretty run of the mill Nicaraguan in today's market but to my palette it surpassed those. Weird how that happens. I have a second version that I subbed in some Corojo Viso with the Esteli Seco I will smoke later today and report back. If it goes well @FrostD I'll send ya some.

Finished up a batch of sticks that was my lady’s blend. 10x 44 ring gauge + 4x 43 ring gauge + 5x hand rolled sticks that used paper strips for a mold.

The 43 & 44 ring gauge sticks are:
Wrapper: Indonesian Besuki (WLT)
Binder: Dominican CV PA (WLT)
Filler: 1x Peru Ligero
1x Dom Rene Viso
1x Dom Rene Seco

Finished up my latest batch of blends! This is my attempt at getting close to the Atabey Black Ritos blend. The blend will probably not even be close, but overall I’m thinking it should produce a good tasting cigar. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Atabey Black Ritos (Knockoff)
Wrappers:
Left side= Ecuadorian Maduro
Middle= Ecuadorian Ligero Shade
Right side= Ecuadorian Corona

Binder:
2x Dominican (Piloto Cubano)

Filler:
Peru Ligero
Dominican Piloto Cubano Ligero
Dominican CV Corojo Viso
Dominican Criollo ‘98 Viso
Dominican Pelo D’ Oro Seco
Dominican Olor Seco

Top 12x were formed in a 54 ring gauge mold. Lengths are 6”- 6 1/4”ish.

Bottom 13x are hand rolls of the blend or are long full or short fill from other blends.

Giving these babies at least a few weeks simmer time before trying.

2023 Piloto Cubano puro. Tight draw, filler in too high case, and/or too much tension applying the paper binder. The tobacco burned well, just had to pull too hard to keep it lit. No hint of immaturity in the aging and kilning. Very nice and spicy finish. Looking forward to blending with these.

Just finished these last cigars in a 50 x 6 mold. Just trying to get better at rolling and trying to get familiar with how many leaves needed for a good draw. Mix of Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Columbian filler, binder, and wrapper leaves.

New bands? They look great.
Hey buddy! The bands I designed was through a program where I purchased blank cigar band pages. OnlineLabels.com has a label design program called Maestro (if I can recall correctly). The label types integrate into the web based software and you can design from there. I used an old old old printer, so some of the print on the labels get cut off. May be that I just need to adjust my printer settings. Pretty simple once you play around on the program for a bit. Labels can sometimes be pricey per band, unless you buy in a bulk amount where the cost gets reduced.

Oh! You can also get a few “sample” pages to try out first before buying. So a few free labels to see if you like the label design program.

Very cool!

Off topic, but this reminds me. Does anyone have any interest in what would be “stamps” for custom cigar bands. I recently got two laser engravers and have the capability to turn photos and images into engraved items. I can do most metals and organic materials. One thing I thought would be cool would be custom plates or “stamps” for homemade cigar bands. I think if done right it could even have textures/ raised or lowered edges depending on the engraving depth. This is something I’ve been meaning to do recently, but I’ll give it a shot once I’m finished moving.

I may be interested! Keep us in the loop as to how the process goes and what the cost would be brother!

Will do! I’m not in it for money, so I would only ask for FTT members to cover shipping (or materials if it’s something odd). I always thought it would be cool to have custom textured bands that we could use for our home rolled cigars!

Hi folks! New here and new to rolling. About two weeks in so drinking from the firehose right now. For the blend "recipes" listed here, when it says 1 seco, 1.5 viso, etc., what is that representing? Is that ounces, leaves or something else? For repeatability, weighing makes sense to me, but I have a feeling that isn't the case. Please advise, thanks!
