They are yellow twist bud (top) and Harrow Velvet (bottom).Yep, the first for or five leaves look ripe enough to be harvested. What strain of burley are you growing?

I'm surprised that's not getting censored
They are a wonder. Definitely the prettiest tobacco plants I have on the go. They smell delightful and are so easy to care for. If they are half as nice to smoke as they are to grow I'll be very happy.Definitely wilt them in the shade or in the box first.
Good looking Prilep. Those are gorgeous plants while growing aren’t they?
Awsome, I'm definetly going to have to give those a shot this winter indoors and outdoors next year. I'm thinking next spring I'll do a little landscaping out front with some of the varieties with different leaf shape. Maybe Prilep, habano 2000, little Dutch, staghorn, Florida Sumatra and Conneticut broadleaf. It's semi shady out front so the leaf shapes tend to become more pronounced - it should give the neighbors something to talk about
I would yellow them in the box in my climate, We are moving to early spring over here so for me definitely box. For you I guess yellow them however you do. I would be careful about the sun as, yeah, they may end up crispy green compost. My best guess is that these Prilep leaves are mature and good to harvest. I wonder if I should yellow them out a bit in the box before I put them in the sun so they don't crisp up all green.. anyone?View attachment 32043
I bet they would do well indoors given enough light, because you can pack them together pretty close. You can't tell from that pic that there are four healthy plants in that pot...I'm definetly going to have to give those a shot this winter indoors and outdoors next year. .
Your pots with the extra holes seemed to have worked well.
Cool, it looked like there were only two plants in the pic. Thanks, that gives me an idea of how tight to pack in some of my oriental seedlings I have just starting now.I bet they would do well indoors given enough light, because you can pack them together pretty close. Are you going to collect seed? If not you might just top them and give them a few weeks before you stalk harvest while picking the yellow leaves in the mean time. Just my thoughts - a more experience grower my think differently.I think all the leaves on these burley plants in pots are going to be all snapped up before the plants in the ground even flower.. maybe just stalk harvest them? What do yaz think..View attachment 32161

Are some Yellow Twist Bud and some Harrow Velvet in the photos? They are nice looking plants and I think Bob is spot on with his advise. I have never stalk harvested before so I passed on trying to guess. Best of luck with the rest of your harvest and cure.I think all the leaves on these burley plants in pots are going to be all snapped up before the plants in the ground even flower.. maybe just stalk harvest them? Willdoski, thank you.I would leave the yellow leaves on the stalk, unless they are becoming tattered by the weather. Wait for maturation signs in the top leaf, then stalk-harvest and stalk-cure.

Thanks! The top picture is yellow twist bud in a pot, next one down is Harrow Velvet in a pot. Under that is ytb in the garden with Delhi 34 back to the left and Harrow velvet hiding behind it. Those in the ground are bigger, juicier and taking longer. The final snap is the pots again, left to right: Harrow velvet, Delhi 34, and ytb.Are some Yellow Twist Bud and some Harrow Velvet in the photos?
