Haha thanks for the tip. We deal with that issue alot where I work, it's amazing what certain chemicals (especially powders) will do to a sprayer. We've seen certain tanks even that get a build up of 1/16" of skin inside.

FYI, if you ever look into making a bigger sprayer, I'm designing a portable boom for aphid control/fertilizing/watering/sucker control etc. Can be used with any kind of sprayer set up, but wouldn't be useful for anybody with more than a hobby farmer

On comercial the best Aphid control is Admire . Add at transplant and you never see a aphid .One pint does three acres . They have the same type stuff for all bugs on garden vegetables to. Its for everything except corn .
I raise most of my tobacco for private sales and for myself as organic .

Same here, I don't even apply sevin on my plants anymore. Soap water on most insects works just fine, if not, I flick pick pluck or if needed burn them off

use them for decorative purposes...plant them around the yard to spruce up the yard if it needs it?

can't remember which town it was in Ohio, but a guy lined his drive way staggered with tobacco then had small plots in the back (each plot had a different kind of tobacco) looked pretty neat, he let them go to flower that season, looked very pretty.

If you can't eat it or smoke it the only other plants I'll take care of around here is my fruit or nut trees. My wife 's green thumb is more of a dried shriveled up brown. [Don't tell her I said that.] I,ll keep her plants alive awhile till I realize she does this to me every year. Plant something maintenance free I'll say. I lose interest if its just for looks, especialy during the dog days of summer.

i just came in from inspecting them,

killed 3 worms,, noticed many allready dead,

im gonna go back out and give them a good leafular fertilizing with my fox-farm...

i'll proablly be out there all night tonight,,,

i left dirt in between my felt covered rows, but im getting a grass infestation between the rows,

so tonight i hoe the grass away,,and lay a mesh material i have,,, in between the rows,,,

gonna do one row at a time,,, till all is complete,

Lookin real good in both gardens. My puny little plants are jealous.....of course with all that fertilizer the grass gets a good start too. It's like war games or sometning like it. Like Bob said...keep those pics coming and we'll try to keep pace with you.

well , i decided against putting mesh between my rows,,,,,

i took my tater-rake and got all the grass out,,,,,and dug it down deep.

after looking,,,, my roots may be adjoined from row to row,,,, so i busted the soil up between rows, instead of covering it,,,

i noticed about 6 of my plants may need to be supported,,,{proablly didnt bury them deep enough}

but support stakes is something, I GOT PLENTY OF,,,lol

Make like a cut your own christmas tree farm and let them cut their own baccy out of some of your for sale plants. Less work = less money .[what would a full grown ripe plant go for as is?] Hands = more money- more work, you could provide info on drying and processing. Would be a novelty for some people, less money less work. Hands = more money- more work,;)

I have a buisness sign out on main road but I don't advertise for veggies or baccy, so I don't get a bunch of strangers coming down my road and checking things out.
