Alrighty, so, rolled some more last couple days. Cigars #4-17 plus a couple scrap small guys. Had three other small guys I’ve smoked that didn’t burn the greatest ( too moist I think ) but the flavour wasn’t overly bitter. Realized I didn’t include my blends on last pics so ill include my terribly messy blend notes … Anyways …IMG_0062.jpeg

Looks incredible! I'm a year or two away from the possibility of having half a dozen of my own grown and rolled away.

Can't wait to get there!

I rolled this just before going to bed last night. It looks nicer this morning. The wrapper is WLT CT Shade, with a binder and filler of 50:50 WLT Peru viso and WLT Criollo 98 viso. As usual, I used no glue, since I have no intention of selling the cigar or giving it away, or even storing it. Because it rested overnight with the clothespin clipped on the head, it will not unwrap if I remove the clothespin—until I clip the head to smoke it. So I clip it while controlling the wrapper at the head with a fingertip, then stick the cigar in my mouth, to keep it wrapped. Once the clipped head has been moistened, it stays wrapped all by itself.

The true science of all this is that I am too lazy to make a triple cap that I will discard, and too lazy to prep cigar glue that I do not need. Though I admire the artistry of the gorgeous cigars made by other forum members, I'm more pragmatic with my own effort.

It’s been ages since I rolled a cigar with a press mold. However I picked up a beautiful used perfecto mold on eBay. One of the things I like about the vintage molds is they tend to be smaller ring gauges, which I am a fan of.

To christen the mold, I made a corojo pure with my indoor grown Corojo. My leaves aren’t nearly as pretty as WLT, but they smell and burn well.

I had to cut the perfecto into more of a torpedo because my wrapper was too short. It’s a bit damp, and I will let it dry out for a day or two.

Hi all. So with life being as such, I still haven't introduced myself. So a short post as I've had a really nice evening so far!

I know, I know I've rushed thing's and experimented, but as a 17+ year smoker, I thought it would take something very bad for me to put it out. So, my first cigar!

Staghorn, which I think is a dark air cure (?)
From this year's grow. Germinated April 2024, primed and colour cured start of August. Left to hang on stem. Destemed September 16th, filler dried in oven for 4 minutes @45c, rolled and into paper mold. Left overnight and then 10 hours in a glass jar in the oven again at the same temperature, with a little bit of loose leaf smoked green tea.

Left to sit till yesterday, then wrapped in a yellow twist bud wrapper.

All filler and binder are first staghorn priming. Draws amazing, smoke time now over an hour without any relighting. Tasty, dark, heavy, raisins and a nice tea flavour too. Very happy, and can't wait for properly aged ones!

Thank you all for your wisdom and advice that's in this forum!

Received my Maduro wrappers from WLT along with a dark Ecuadorian binder sample. I decided to roll a test cigar, and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out.

I finally finished rolling my first kit, the Terroso Profundo. Not doing too great at smoking what I roll, just can't bring myself to do it yet :) Can't wait to roll my next one!

Trying my last-rolled little smoke this morning and it's really good It's the last of my short fill and this Terroso Profundo blend is amazing. I know there is a prestige to many commercial sticks, but I'm having a smoke that's completely unique and quite satisfying. Cheers, ladies and gentlemen!

Smoked my first Criollo out of the garden this year. Wrapped this little guy with each of the 3 primings and a Pennsylvania "Oscuro" wrapper. Profile wise it was very mild body, almost had a tongue bite like pipe tobacco but decent construction and draw. Burned super slow so I'm convinced they need a little more time in the humidor. I laughed at reviewing this picture cuz my cap makes the cigar look like it's wearing a turbin. Ha. Something to work on.20241103_125514.jpg
