These are from my second group of rolling. They are 5.5 x 44. I wanted to focus on practicing my technique without obsessing over making a good blend. I'm pretty happy but still noticed a couple soft spots after I was done.
Edit:
Wrapper: Aged Pennsylvania Broadleaf
Binder: CT 2LS Broadleaf
Filler: Aged Dominican Ligero, Aged Nicaraguan Seco

Always nice to see a fellow Wisconsinite! Looking good and nice setup I’ve never seen a blue mold before. I’m not going color blind am I?

Sunday morning wrap session with the morning coffee. Trying out a new blend and then do some planned tweaks.
w- Dom. Corojo Oscuro
B-Dom. Olor
F-ASP Ligero, Olor Ligero, & Nic. Condega Seco.
*will be clipping down the foot so it’s not all snaggly.

A few observations...
Good-
-Wrapper & Binder leaf look, smell, and stretchy and nice to work with.
-Flag’s all went on like a charm

Bad (all on my end)-
-Didn’t properly fill enough in the doll to avoid soft spots.
-Cap..Area of improvement. I got used to the thin Brazil CT wrapper, need to work on more stretchy wrappers. I’ve thought of 5 different things it could be, but I think slow tweaks opposed to changing a ton at once.

All in all... not the prettiest, but will get the job done for the intended purpose.

How do you find the oscuro wrapper to work with compared to CT shade?
How thick is the dominican olor binder and is it heavily veined?

Dominican Corojo Oscuro- Currently for me I cased the leaf for 2-3 days. I wanted to give them extra time, since it is a thicker leaf. It’s stretchy and not super easy to tear (even before casing), not to mention that it has an awesome scent to it. Each leaf I’ve used are decent size and I feel is on the larger size compared to other Wrappers (at least from what I’ve used so far). Veins aren’t too outrageously big. It’s easy to cut around them and still have a lot of usable leaf.

I can speak to the Brazil CT 2013 wrapper leaf that I’ve been using more of the last month or so. It’s a different animal altogether. Very different scents & feel. This one is very thin and feels like it could rip or tear if you look at it wrong... it won’t, but requires a little more finesse. Casing could probably be accomplished just with a few spritz on your board and letting it sit for a few min (very thin leaf). I still prefer casing in my plastic grocery bag overnight.

Dominican Olor Binder- Its thick and stretchy as well. Excellent aromas in my humble opinion. Awesome binder that won’t easily tear and impart good flavors into a blend. Not overly veiny. There may be a few here and there I’ve noticed, but none that would render any leaf unusable.

I’m still a newbie though. Some vets may have different insight?

Some La Gloria Cubana Medaille d’Or No 4 replicas I hand rolled (I don't have a 32-ring mold), using one of my new custom cap cutters. If you are in need of a custom cap cutter, I can highly recommend contacting this dude:

Nice! I like it! I’ve also considered hitting up a local hardware store for different copper fittings. I’ve been using 1 copper piece from a “starter kit”. I’m finding various size cap cutters really do help. Lol.

That's the ring gauge I like the most.
What wrappers are those?

I made a couple quick test imperfectos this morning. The basic blend I am trying to get right had ASP ligero, Nic Habano Viso, Corojo 2006 seco, Vuelta Abajo binder and Eq. corona wrapper. I substituted Sumatra binder for these and put just a sliver of ASP ligero in one but not the other. My thinking is that the Sumatra binder will give the blend the interesting Szechuany/ minty vibes without being too heavy in nicotine. To that end I also made these with a bit smaller ring gauge. I’ll try them some time this week. E1F73F9D-ADB1-4752-B34B-486FD3C17119.jpeg

Nice lookin sticks there! I’m very interested in your after enjoyment thoughts on the combo of leaves you mentioned. In my opinion, it sounds like a decent mix. It’s all in the eyes of the beholder though...

Enjoy em! (y)(y)
