Extrapolation

Garden20211109_6107_cigar_ugly_700.jpg

Extrapolation is the mathematical skill of determining approximately how ugly this cigar must have been, before I smoked 2/3 of it.

I had planned to use a "rough" segment of CT Broadleaf as a binder. The gorgeous wrapper was...never mind. That gorgeous wrapper burst in 5 or 6 different places, just as I completed wrapping the head. Harsh words were uttered. I unwrapped the CT Broadleaf binder, and reapplied it as carefully as its shabby condition would allow.

Interpolation

Interpolation is the mathematical skill of filling-in the missing information. My filler was 1 leaf of dark Olor, two leaves of Glessnor, and a half-leaf of WLT Peru ligero. (I admit, the Peru ligero is the opposite half of the leaf that failed me as a wrapper. I forgot how delicate it is when undergoing tension.)

The unlit aroma was a joy. Draw was perfect. Nicotine strength is medium-to-full. As long as I don't look at it, my mind is tricked into believing it is a wonderful cigar.

Without the clothespin? Congratulations (just kidding, I love to tease my friends). I am sure of the quality of the smoke of this cigar. I can't help but think of the nice pipe tobacco boxes with a mediocre blend while my blends in a mediocre package are excellent. ;)

Went outside to enjoy a cigar. First one in two weeks, paused for my surgery.
A nice stick I rolled in June

Dominican Criollo Ligero
Piloto Cubano Seco
With a PA Oscuro wrapper

Tasting notes are spicy and flavorful.
Stronger than I expected. I may have to paw through my stock and get some more Piloto Cubano added in.

First rolls in a few months, gotta restock the humidor.

Kind of a random blend, let's see what happens.

44 (left) and 54 (right) ring gauge, Corojo Wrapper, CV Corojo Seco Binder, Rene Viso, Criollo 98 Ligero; all WLT.

Yes, I use a handheld embosser with a custom graphic.
I thought you started a thread on it. I couldn't locate it. Is this the embosser company you used?

I talked about it on the BOTL forum, hence why you couldn't find it here. But yes that is the very same company and embosser I use.

In case there are interested parties, this is the graphic I made for the embosser and below are a few examples of different band materials (although I usually use construction paper these days as I prefer the pastel colours and they glue well with most typical cigar glues).

Yes. I don't roll enough for it to be a problem, but I have considered other options.

Custom cookie cutter with the same outline? There's gotta be a company that makes em.

You could also try an X-acto knife to see if that is faster than scissors.

Edit: Another idea would be to make a template from acrylic and trace inside the template with an X-acto knife.
