Found a nice little blend I’ll try and make 25 of and stash away.
Corojo Oscuro wrapper and double binder, 2 Corojo viso (not sure which) 1 2012 Nic habano seco, and a 1/4 sliver Nic Habano Ligero. All WLT. Very good (to me ) 46rg. Still burning really well halfway through. Rolled a week and a half ago.
Sounds like a nice blend. Looks great too. Nice job

I bought that cool looking Hemingway short story style mold off of WLT. I attempted one cigar and came out really well. Wrapped it last night and burned it this morning. I was very pleased! Now to get consistent, or at least smokeable… very fun.

Result: perfect draw, good burn, blend has remained consistent

I enjoy seeing how a blend plays out. I was deep in old and new forums on here late last night, looking for blends to try and any other info that would catch my eye, and I believe Bob said in one post "A good blend is hard to come by." Made me feel better about my blending, haha.

WLT's Habano Oscuro is one of the most fragrant wrappers I can recall. The color is nearly black. The leaf is stretchy, with good tensile strength. Burn is fairly good, though doubling this somewhat thick leaf as wrapper and binder is sluggish. (This stick has no binder.) It carries along a nicotine punch that takes the strength of the Corojo 99 up a notch (e.g. medium up to medium-full). And it noticeably impact the aroma, with its rich, dark tobacco character.

I'm sure that a more artistic torcedor could get a sheen on the Habano oscuro, so I plead the First. It is my breakfast on a chilly, mid-September morning—my very first cigar of the day. Plus, I'm too presbyopic to notice the surface of the cigar while I'm smoking it.

I agree with Bob!
I haven't seen many people rolling with it.
I can stretch it only so much before tearing. No sheen for mine. Has more of a Roma Craft thickness and texture. The flavor is wonderful, it wakes up tobaccos in a blend that I couldn't taste when another wrapper was used.
Fragrant and flavorful, but not sweet, thankfully.

I call the blend: Los Rios Picante “El Timador”

Right stack is filler blend “V1”
Wrapper: Los Rios
Binder: Vuelta Abajo
Filler: 2x T-13 Viso
2x Peru Seco
1x Peru Ligero

Left stack is filler blend “V2”
Wrapper: Los Rios
Binder: Vuelta Abajo
Filler: 2x T-13 Viso
1x Peru Seco
1x Peru Viso
1x Peru Ligero

3 white band sticks are “scrap sticks”

Blends are very similar, so there may not be a noticeable difference. We will see! V1 is ~50 ring gauge, while V2 is ~52 ring gauge.

Edit: All tobacco is from WLT!

Is Los Rios a Sumatran wrapper leaf?

Ecuador.

Bob

EDIT: I realize that doesn't actually answer your question. With commercial leaf, you get to know the country where it was grown, and whatever name the grower or importer wants to apply to it. It appears to be thicker than Ecuador Sumatra.

I must be losing my mind, lol... The description of the product now states that it's Habano, but I could almost swear that information wasn't there the last time I checked...

1st paragraph:
Introducing our Los Rios wrapper. This wrapper is a Chestnut Brown leaf with very consistent coloring. The leaf is very elastic and generous in size. Perfect for any blend of fillers.

2nd paragraph:
Introducing our Ecuador Habano Los Rios wrapper. This wrapper is a Chestnut Brown leaf with very consistent coloring. The leaf is very elastic and generous in size. Perfect for any blend of fillers.

It's a Jedi mind trick. I didn't see "Habano" in the second paragraph, until I searched for it.

Bob is right. It’s an Ecuadorian leaf. Great chestnut brown once dried. Adds a spice to a blend that I dig. Not a hot Pepper type more of a spicy/peppery green pepper.
Ecuadorian tobacco is awesome! I have both shade-grown Habano Seco and Sumatran wrappers from there - they are my go-to wrappers along with the WLT Corojo Oscuro...

Much of Ecuador's cigar tobacco is grown in the Quevedo Valley of Los Rios Province. Most of the valley is only about 200 feet or less, above sea level, and surrounded by steep hills and mountains on three sides. It is tropical: temp 67-80° year-round. It's so cloudy there that direct sunlight is limited to 2-4 hours a day.
